Can someone tell me what the fuck is the point of the taxi squads then?

I thought those squads were implemented just for these type of situations?

if 5 guys get sick, you get 5 guys up to replace them.

Fuck baseball. Can't do shit right.

It will work that way, but you have to find out how deep it runs first. That is the contact tracing that has to be performed.

what happens if a cardinals type of situation happens in the playoffs?

There's no time in the current playoff schedule where a team cannot play for more than 5 days.

So if a playoff team tests positive and cannot get on the field for say 5-7 days, is the whole thing cancelled then?

has MLB even thought this scenario thru?

How we doing? MLB plan still going ok?
When we all wake up 4 days from now...the Cardinals will STILL have only played 5 total games.

And, thank goodness the Cubs will have to play some random DH in the next couple weeks so that the Cards pitchers could have a golf outing and go out afterward!

Other than Cardinals games, what teams had games cancelled this weekend due to covid-19?

Did you happen to hear about the Indians who sent perhaps their best starting pitcher home because he violated team/Covid rules?

I did!

Does that support your stance or mine? Take a second to think about it...

I would say baseball is doing pretty good so far considering they are not in a bubble. Unless the standard is every team plays every game. But yeah the Cardinals being a mess does not mean it is a disaster for the other 29 teams.

but how many teams that fuck up like the cards makes it a problem to cancel the season? i'm glad they're still playing and theres only been one problem team at a time (Marlins first, now cards).

but if this happens to one team during the playoffs, since we now have 16 teams, that one team will fuck everything up as the owners want everything to be wrapped up by the end of october. i dont know why they needed to have a drop dead finish date. they should have given some time in November if games needed to be played to make up for any issues during the playoffs.

Ok fine, I’ll humor you.

I believe there have been EXACTLY 3 calendar days in this MLB that haven’t had any COVID cancellations. It may be 2, but for sure isn’t 4.

YAY!!

That’s kinda the point, conns/SHARK.

MLB is failing, in large part, because they’re not in a “bubble”.
The other leagues aren’t failing so far because they are in a “bubble”.

Edit: how many NHL games have been cancelled??

So failing is if any team can not play?

Nope.

But there are now teams that have 6(!) DH scheduled vs teams that weren’t originally on the 60(!) game schedule.

And those DH are now 7 innings each. Which wasn’t the plan a month ago (!).

Fellas, I get it, head in the sand and all. But seriously look at what is happening to MLB.
THE game that prides itself on history, stats, and structure more than any other.

I would say MLB is succeeding more than any of the other leagues.

MLB has allowed players and staff to retain much more normalcy in their every day lives by not requiring a bubble. Players and workers still go home to their families. Teams still retain the comforts of home field advantage. The league has not overreacted like the other league's have. MLB expects a certain amount of responsible behavior with respect to all players, staff and workers...and has planned for all contingencies in order for participants in the game and fans to enjoy the game in a way that is as close to a facsimile as possible.

Most of us are extremely happy with how things have gone since the details of the season were announced.

The Cardinals have played 5 games this season.
This will still be true 24 hours from now.

Cubs have best record in baseball. Also true 24 hours from now.

This does not answer the question.

My point STILL stands.
3 calendar days exist without a COVID cancellation. The season is over 1/4 done.

But hey, IMU thinks MLB handled this better than NBA and NHL (zero combined cancellations since restarting), you got that going for you.

Great. Your point has nothing to do with my question. Nor does IMU's point.

And it's now a week later. So lets try this again. Other than Cardinals games, how many other games have been cancelled due to Covid since you last posted in this thread?

Who told you that? That’s nuts.
Also - my favorite version of Frank is the one that thinks he controls how others can post here. It pops up often.

Since you guys are OBSESSED with school, let’s try this analogy:

If a kid is FAILING halfway through a grading period, does that mean they have FAILED?
Of course not - they still keep moving along through the quarter/semester, and still have a chance to improve and pass...or they can continue to stumble and end up failing in the end.

So far, baseball has been failing. They’re on the verge of turning in some make-up work And extra credit, and bumping that current grade up to a D-. Some parents would be proud of that, some would not.

Edit: just saw Peeps post. Shit, the kid missed the deadline for extra credit. Still failing.

Only because your system is issuing failing grades because a few guys caught a cold. Or have I missed all the MLB players that have ended up hospitalized and/or dropped dead?

Babe Ruth caught the Spanish flu twice and still beat the Cubs in the World Series.

Your system includes player death, obviously. That’s really weird.

We’re talking about baseball being played. Not all of the league is playing baseball, and they’re also fucking it up for several other teams.

The cardinals have played 5 games. And now have something like 9 DH scheduled in the next month.
And here we are on the brink of doing it all over again with the Reds (and maybe pirates).
