How many good scoring chances can one team miss on in one game? This is crazy

How many can 1 player miss? The cat has had a series worth of good looks and has done shit with all of them. Somehow Matta put one through MAF's armpit. Not looking good for the Hawks.

you give up a short handed goal and your best player misses a wide open net ....you do not deserve to win.

Knights played great D down the stretch. Hawks couldn't get any decent looks. Pretty good effort.

That was about as bad of an empty net attack as I have ever seen but from a team that has given up 3 fucking short handed goals already in the series it did not surprise me. Dach is going to be a beast though. He pretty much said the hell with it and took one coast to coast. A big man that can do that is going to open up some great looks for his teammates. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

You can? Yes, Dach has looked excellent for a 19-year old and looks to be a future #1 center but the Hawks are lacking several more elite players in order to be a contender. Unless they get lucky in the draft or several players really blossom, this team is going to be nothing more than contending for a playoff spot for the foreseeable future. This is why I wanted the Hawks to lose to Edmonton. The difference between picking 9 and 17 in each round is significant. You watch, one of Perfetti, Raymond, Holtz, or Rossi will be there at #9. The top of this draft is 1, 2-3, 4-8. The Hawks need more difference-makers and you get them in the top 10 of the draft most consistently.

When people made predictions about the series a lot of folks said Vegas in 5 because Crawford would steal one. There ya go! That was as good as any Crawford performance I've seen. They'll lose in the next game but that was a lot of fun.

Just got done with Cubs and just tuned in. What a treat to have this game on around midnight.

Time to back up the truck. Though I made a nice pile of cash betting Vegas in this series.

nice!

I did a sneak in a live bet for the under when it was tied at 3.

Those were my first sports wagers (along with NBA tonight) since sports started back up.

Better run than I expected. Good playoff experience for Dach, DeBrincat, and Boqvist.

Lazerus was on the Score with Bernstein Tuesday and once again spewed his nonsense that playing this round of playoffs was worth going from 9 to 17 in the draft. He says that the playoff experience Dach and Boqvist will get is "invaluable." What would have happened if Dach and Boqvist did not play these 5 games (4 for Boqvist since he was scratched for a game)? Would they be destined to a subpar career if they didn't have the experience of being thoroughly outplayed by a superior opponent? This is ridiculous.

Playoff experience is valuable but it is also overrated. Many young players struggle in the playoffs because they are physically immature and not ready for the heavy hockey played in the playoffs. It's not a question of knowledge. It's a matter of the young players needing more time for their game to mature. But some young players will thrive in the playoffs immediately. Look at Quinn Hughes or Makar last year or McAvoy a couple years ago or Chris Kreider when he broke in. Hell, how did the 2008-9 Hawks make the WCF when all those young players had ZERO playoff experience? Some young players are ready while some need more time but having the experience of playing playoff hockey before is not some magical elixir that will make a young player thrive in subsequent playoffs.

Don't get me wrong, it is nice to get your young players playoff experience but what is more important for team success is to have BETTER PLAYERS. The Hawks need more talented players and more depth. There are all sorts of metrics which show historically that a significantly better player will be available at pick 9 than 17. And this year specifically they would have had the chance to pick a top forward, elite goalie, or stud defensive dman (Sanderson). None of those players will be available at 17. Draft analysts consistently say this is a top 8 draft and then you throw in Askarov and Sanderson.

The Hawks weren't going to actively tank. But to say it is better for the Hawks long term for them to have beaten the Oilers and drop in the draft is nonsense. Just say you enjoy watching the Hawks and you want to see them win. Say that the draft is a crap shoot and that you'll take the guaranteed enjoyment of watching the Hawks play more games this season versus the uncertainty of prospects. I enjoyed the games like other Hawk fans but I would have preferred they lost in 5 games against the Oilers and then drafted a potential top line forward.
