Who told you that? That’s nuts.
Also - my favorite version of Frank is the one that thinks he controls how others can post here. It pops up often.

Since you guys are OBSESSED with school, let’s try this analogy:

If a kid is FAILING halfway through a grading period, does that mean they have FAILED?
Of course not - they still keep moving along through the quarter/semester, and still have a chance to improve and pass...or they can continue to stumble and end up failing in the end.

So far, baseball has been failing. They’re on the verge of turning in some make-up work And extra credit, and bumping that current grade up to a D-. Some parents would be proud of that, some would not.

Edit: just saw Peeps post. Shit, the kid missed the deadline for extra credit. Still failing.

Your school analogy does not hold up. In school there is an objective manner in which students are graded.

What is that objective manner used to determine whether baseball is failing?

There have been 2 teams that have been affected in a major way. A few others in minor ways. Out of 30 clubs.

Goddamn. I didn’t think this night could be better until the inbred* hillbilly teacher schooled the whiny suburban IL teacher on schooling.

*willing to concede it’s possible Ralph’s parents were not relations.

I would think it’d be understood that this is a discussion about “opinions”. There are no objective standards for baseball passing or failing in this thing.

The Marlins are all fine and applying for re-instatement, the Cards are all fine and somehow managed to extend their break long enough that no one even has to be re-instated. Numerous other teams have had a player or 2 with it that have returned. These guys play everyday with hangovers worse than what they have felt from this. Baseball is not what is failing.

Only because your system is issuing failing grades because a few guys caught a cold. Or have I missed all the MLB players that have ended up hospitalized and/or dropped dead?

Your system includes player death, obviously. That’s really weird.

We’re talking about baseball being played. Not all of the league is playing baseball, and they’re also fucking it up for several other teams.

The cardinals have played 5 games. And now have something like 9 DH scheduled in the next month.
And here we are on the brink of doing it all over again with the Reds (and maybe pirates).

Right. Because the overreaction to 25 year old guys catching what amounts to a cold is absolutely hysterical. Every time a person tests positive about half of the country acts as if it's the end of the world when the scientific fact is that most of the people testing positive aren't even sick.

I question the veracity of these asymptomatic positive tests. The entire response feels so rushed and disorganized that massive mistakes are being made.

You have to go warm weather with some quarantine time to do that correctly. NBA and NHL waited weeks before they played in the bubble.

So far we are 5 days out of 23 without a team testing positive. Can't have that in the playoffs.

So basically you need a bubble and 2 weeks before playoffs begin

Or non Chicago teams have to forfeit or play with replacements.

Play the round of 16 at the home ballparks with daily testing then follow the NBA rules for returning to Orlando, 5-7 days quarantine. So essentially a week off, saved by not needing travel days.

Play the round of 8 at the two LA ballparks and San Diego. Six teams at Dodger and Anaheim stadiums, 4 play each day. Four teams at Petco, skip the first day and then play every day. Games at 11am and 7pm Pacific. MLB contractors to disinfect the locker rooms between games.

Play the NLCS at Dodger Stadium, the ALCS at Anaheim Stadium. Play the World Series at Anaheim. For these two rounds, reduce the off days to just one day after Game 4.

I guess you could put it that way. The difference between the way I look at it and the way the people making decisions- and not just in baseball- look at it- is that the people making decisions think testing positive for a virus is a problem. I don't. I think people getting sick and dying is a problem. And it's become abundantly clear, if we're actually following the science, that the latter doesn't necessarily follow the former and hasn't at all in the case of MLB players.

You can't poke a hole in the "they'll take it home, spread it, and kill old people" theory. It's unassailable.

Take the IDPH guidelines. The contact tracing is South Korea-like.

I read it the last time you posted it. Yahoo has been a leader of the panic porn. I don't totally dismiss it because the the last time I had the flu, I wasn't right for a month. And I'm fairly healthy other than arthritis. But if this vaccine isn't viable, there's no alternative but to get it and push through. So for me personally, it's vaccine or bust. I'll go lick a doorknob rather than have a phone app declaring I can't go anywhere due to lack of immunity.

I don't care who pushes out, there's absolutely no fuckin place for this in a legitimate Sports threat. There are about four dozen other threads that link could have been posting in.

Stop being such a whining beyotch. Police your fucking self for once before you decide to police someone else!

This thread has been about covid and baseball. That link and other similar shit online shows that being young or even asymptomatic doesn’t mean you're off the hook. No need to try to catch it or pretend death is the only bad thing that can happen.

All NL teams.

Maybe the pitchers need to start hitting again.

The Cubs have a big lead in the division. They should start infecting the whole roster right now so they don't have to play another game.
