White Sox fans, as you may know, Darrin Jackson's contract as TV analyst on the team's broadcasts is up after this season. As the Sox prepare for a three game season tonight vs. the Tigers at U.S. Cellular Field, it's been learned that D.J. will NOT be joining Ken Harrelson for the Comcast SportsNet call of tonight's game. Instead of shifting Steve Stone from the "SCORE's" radio broadcast with Ed Farmer, Dan Plesac is pinch hitting tonight for Darrin. Yes, Sox fans, the same Plesac who analyzes Cubs' pre & postgame for CSN. I don't know if Dan will be joining "Hawk" tomorrow night and Thursday for the finale of this series on WCIU 26 "The U". I respect Plesac's work, but couldn't CSN & the Sox have found a better analyst to sit in with "Hawk"?

I would have no problem with Plesac either, if he doesn't toot the "Big Blue Train" like he's done after Cub games on CSN. Besides, I saw him the other day sporting a conductor's hat on "Cubs Postgame Live"! To be fair, he's part of the "Afternoon Saloon" Monday afternoons with "MJH" in the 4p hour, and he actually is fair to both his own team and the Sox in his analysis.

I'm fine with Plesac. I know some idiots will say "Why are dey puttin' a Cub guy next to Hawk?"

Who cares? I guess they could have let Bill Melton do it but I think this is a tryout for Plesac. They wouldn't want Melton to replace DJ. He's a little too bland. Maybe Stone won't get the TV gig and this is the Sox checking out Plesac.

Beardown, you never know...Long before Chris Singleton & now Steve Stone, I thought that 670 was going to hire Tommy John for the analyst job when "The SCORE" acquired the Sox radio rights. He was interviewed on a Saturday morning if I recall, and he sounded very interested at the time.

Assuming that Stone is moving over to tv, I say revamp the whole radio booth with Tommy John and a real play by play man. Maybe even keep Farmer around to float between TV/Radio & the pregames, but not a majority of any of them.

Farmio was ok w/Rooney, but the few times I've heard John interviewed he was funny as hell. If I've heard him(John) 3-4X, that means that I've already heard him tell 6-8 stories all funnier than Farmer's one about his first time at Yankee Stadium.

And I've never heard Plesac offer any worthwhile insight on MJH, no thanks there either. But in all fairness, I never watch Cub pre/post shows.

Plesac is very raw at this. It's understandable. He doesn't know that he's suppose to wait for the replay and comment on the play. Especially if it's a big play or an exciting play. He's too busy telling stories and not focusing on the game. It's his first time doing this so he gets a break.

Plesac is very comfortable. He is an easy listen. Hawk is always nicer and more engaging when he has a guest in the booth. He treats his partners like his bitch. Did it to Wimpy and he does it to DJ.

Plus Plesac needs to shut up as the pitch is being delivered. Gotta give Hawk silence to make the call on the play.

Yeah. Plesac could be decent at this. He just needs to learn the technical aspects of baseball broadcast. Plesac could do that. Like I said, it's his first rodeo.

Plesac is "talky" cuz this is his first time. Trust me, when he does 150 of these things he'll get sick of his own voice and saying the same thing over and over again. He'll learn to shut up more. He just won't want to talk as much if he does this for an entire season.

Plesac has said many times on MJH that he is actually a Sox fan - grew up a Sox fan at least. He just gets paid to do the Cubs pre/post.

Wow. Plesac is interrupting the Hawk. Speaking over him at times. Nobody does that to the Hawk. Nobody.

I do like Plesac. He just has energy, joy, and he's enthusiastic. Like A7X said, it's better than that boaring, sleepy, redundant thing that DJ gives us every day.

He needs to learn timing with Hawk. Needs to stop talking as the pitch is being thrown. That can be learned. But he can be must better than DJ.

I did hear "Hawk" after the game mention that D.J. will be back for the CSN call tonight.

Plesac is a Sox fan. If anything, the Cubs fans should be irritated that he's the Comcast post-game guy. But he's a Crown Point guy, so I give him a pass.
