Check back late afternoon on September 8th.

You've got Uncle Vic's monster defense, and Drew Lock to worry about this year.

I wasn't aware that Anthony Miller had surgery on his shoulder again during the offseason. This is the same shoulder that needed surgery after the 2018 season. Apparently, he's still unable to practice in full pads. The Bears are frighteningly thin at wide receiver.

Do they have any faith in Ridley? You have to look at replacing Miller; too many shoulder problems.

I guess they have to put Ridley on the field this year. Apparently Ted Ginn Jr. is in camp. I'm surprised he's still in the league. What a mess.

I'm surprised Vegas has the Bears at 8 wins. All they need is a mediocre offense to win 13. Nick Foles is the man, mannnnn!

The Bears seem to be below average to abysmal in every offensive position group.

They really like their rookie receiver.

QB's are taking major risks out of fear of throwing an interception and because they doubt have quality NFL receivers on the field since Robinson is out.

Well, hopefully he can produce once the season starts. It looks like we're going to need him.

this was unsettling news to learn. looking at his 2019 gamelogs the last 2 games of the year he only had 3 combined targets..... so was he hurt then?

this is only his 3rd year and he's already nearly 26 years old.

The Score is reporting that David Montgomery sustained a non-contact injury in practice and needed to be carted off the field. Uh-oh.

Saw nothing really from Montgomery last year that makes me think he has any future in the NFL, so really its not a massive loss.

If the WR are healthy they're good there.

They are worst in the NFL at OL, RB and TE though. Literally thirty-second in the league. Its a disaster.

i dont think cohen can be an every down RB, but maybe they give him a shot... it works great, he'll get a nice deal somewhere else next year... if it doesnt you'll have brought in a vet anyway and he returns to his current role of racking up east-west YAC.

I assume Cohen will get more carries if Montgomery is out for an extended period.

I wouldn't count on Miller, hopefully Robinson is fine. After those two, it's just a bunch of guys--Ginn, Wims, Ridley--and Mooney, the rookie.

Grote says Montgomery's got a groin. He was limping badly and in a lot of pain. Grote surmises that Montgomery won't return any time soon.

i guess this is the best news possible considering the initial reports. still, a bad groin injury is going to linger all season and will cost him likely september (assuming its a high grade injury).. not great for a guy with not that much burst to begin with

Hoge said Tuesday was a significant day for the competition, and that (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky “truly struggled with his accuracy.” The Chicago Tribune’s Dan Wiederer said (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky had “a number of wild throws.”

Given that (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky’s accuracy was his biggest problem last season, that’s a bad sign.

“There’s a couple balls I think he would want back, a few here or there just with the accuracy might not be exactly what he wanted,” Nagy said, according to NBC Sports Chicago.

Foles and (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky split the snaps with the first team, Hoge wrote. Nagy was frustrated that neither quarterback was aggressive enough in 7-on-7 drills, often settling for checkdowns.

While Hoge wrote that there was “no question Foles was the better quarterback” in Tuesday’s practice and has inched ahead in the competition, there is a regular theme from all the Bears beat writers: Neither quarterback is dazzling in practice and the competition is still too close to call.

8 and 9 man fronts the whole season..every team begging MVP mitch to beat with his arm. Every monty handoff was out of shotgun.. Nobody could have looked good.

Miller was open a lot last season..mitch didn't see him. He'll stay healthy this year and produce.

He'll need to get healthy before he can stay healthy. He's still recovering from yet another offseason shoulder surgery.

The Sun-Times on Montgomery:

Quote:
And he had been playing it especially well in camp. At minimum, Montgomery’s injury disrupted a promising trajectory going into his second season. He led the Bears with 889 yards and six touchdowns on 242 carries last season and added 25 catches for 185 yards and a touchdown. He was the most productive offensive player behind wide receiver Allen Robinson.

He followed that by getting in better shape in the offseason, showing up to camp noticeably quicker. The last two weeks, he has been the most impressive player in the offense.

“He’s worked really hard, he knows how we do things, he bought into it,” Nagy said. “We really think his future is super bright. We want to have a long career with him. He’s a guy that you can give the ball to a lot and he’s going to get a lot of yards and he’s going to score a lot of touchdowns.”

David Montgomery has been the best offensive player in training camp? That can't be good--even if he is quicker and in better shape.

I thought I wouldn't miss pre season games, but I do.

I want to get to know the rookies and cheer for an undrafted guy to make the team. It also draws my daily interest. I feel kind of out to sea with my bears fandom.
