Ned Yost is insane, the brewers are up 4-1 in the 8th inning on the braves, but yet he has CC in there still with a pitch count at around 100. I understand his bullpen sucks, but this is exactly why I love Ned, because he is burning out his starters.

Prior to the cubs game last week, he 3 complete games, 132, 129 and 139 were his pitch counts, in less then 7 innings against the cubs he was at 129, today he will go into the 9th and more then like will end up at 120 or so, that is going to cost them. Plus he is doing the same thing with Sheets, he will get hurt, makes no sense, but thats ok.

Between last year (pitching into the post season) and this year, I wonder how much CC will have left in September. Gotta believe sooner or later all the innings thrown the past couple of years will take a toll.

The Cardinals certainly have the edge over the Brewers in the dugout, if not talent on the field. But unless Isringhausen finds his old form, the Cardinals will have problems with that bullpen.

Insert Liriano instead of Carpenter and thats exactly the way I feel about the Twins. Though, I still think that road trip at the end of this month will really knock them back. I just hope the Sox aren't having to play catch up by then.

Sabathia threw 109 pitches this afternoon, and it was a close game. On top of that, Sabathia (and Yost) may not be back next season so why not ride your ace down the stretch?

I just wonder how CC's agent feels about this, stressing his arm like this before he hits free agnecy? I dont care how big he is, keep pitching him like this and it going to hurt them in the end. With that said, Brewers bullpen sucks, their defense sucks and their manager sucks, so they will be out of it by the end of the month

Izzy needs to stay hurt...he sucks...it's no mistake they won their World Series with him on the bench watching...

Well, CC and Sheets wont, so you are right. Beat the hell out of them because this is your year.

At least today, Sabathia wasn't run into the ground. He probably averages right around 109 pitches.

He tired down the stretch last year, let's hope the same occurs this year.

I would not be surprised if CC loves the way Yost is using him. He wants to have as many wins as possible this season, as he will be seeking a 100 million dollar plus contract. If he leaves games in the 6th regularly, that awful bullpen will give away a lot of wins. If he sucks next year, he's still going to be paid very well-based in part, on what he does this year, so I would guess CC is fine with being ridden hard and put away wet.

All you need to know about Yost, is that his players have started fighting with each other in the dugout. If you can't keep control in the dugout, the players don't really respect you.

Tonights game, Brewers are up 9-3 in the 7th and he keeps CC in for the final two innings. 138 pitch count, keep that up Ned.

I understand he is a horse and everything, but his pitch count since going to the brewers has been 123, that is going to catch up to him. Plus he is doing the same thing with sheets, if either one of those guys gets hurt and they miss the playoffs, his ass will be fired 2 minutes after the final out.

Its a ton of pitches but..

He has not lost since going to the Brew Crew. And he left that game against the Cubs with the lead, so I guess if it ain't broke..

I was going to bump this, but RodeoVann did it for me. The game tonight was well out of reach for the Astros and yet he continued with Sabathia. I know he's a big, strong guy, but he's also human, and there's 6 more weeks to go plus a postseason. Injuries aside, he's not going to have a full tank of gas come October. He wasn't as sharp last postseason either after throwing 250 innings.

I'm not complaining. Go crazy, Ned.

Yost knows the Brewers are not going to be able to re-sign Sabbathia in the off-season, so they are not going to worry too much about next year and how all the pitches this season affect next year. Plus, the Brewers pitching staff puts the BULL in Bullpen, so Yost probably is shaky on going to the pen if he can avoid it. Lastly, Sabbathia probably loves the idea of padding his stats with as many wins, and complete games possible, to further add to his resume that will have him cashing in to the tune of over 100 million dollars on his next contract. But Yost does seem to be taking notes from Dusty Baker, where pitch counts are concerned and I will not be surprised, if Sabbathia has a dip in performance next season.

Forget next season Steve, this is terrible managing of your pitching staff. I don't care how bad the bullpen is, you don't have one pitcher than can throw in the 8th or 9th inning?

700+ innings pitched leads the majors for starters through august.

I'll be interested to see what those final 2 starts look like for CC and Sheets the last week of September against the Cubs.

I'm with Irishboy on this, keep it up Yost.

Thats what I thought, two innings to go and a six run lead and he leaves him out there. It doesnt matter to me, but he is just like a younger dusty.

Steve I understand your point, but I guarentee that if he gets hurt, both CC and his agent will go off on Yost in a second. I could be wrong also, maybe Ned is saving the bullpen so they can be real bad for the strech.

Actually, CC was on the hook for the loss until HR Howry let the Brewers tie it up.

I can't believe CC is going to be sharp late in September and October if he is continually used like this. Also do the Brewers have a back up catcher? Kendall is going to be worn out by September if he is not already. After a hot start his numbers have plummeted. I was somewhat surprised the Astros intentionally walked Kendall to get to CC in the 2nd inning. CC scares me more at the plate than Kendall right now.

Plus Braun hurt himself swinging the bat again last night. Dont wish anyone to get hurt, but Yost is playing these guys without days off, buring out his starters, not good for them, good for the cubs though..... :thumright: :thumleft:

In all fairness guys, when your 5 games back, you don't always have the luxury of resting guys.

This is true.

However, when you are up like 8-2 late in the game and you leave your SP in to get well over 100 pitches. . .

Well I think you see what I mean. But God bless him, keep it up Yost!
