you don't want to talk about it? don't talk about it, but don't act like just because you and your target audience doesn't care about it that "nobody cares about it" or that it wasn't a great event because you didn't see it or cared to.

to me, he's just missing out on so much more by being so narrow minded.

i didn't hear Mac, but Dave Kaplan on the Comcast show at 5:30 fit that description to a tee, that it's tennis and no one cares.

But one guy on the panel, the guy from the Bear Report, had a funny response

"This from a guy that does play by play for lacrosse" :)

I used to bring Old Style "tallboys" to band practice. Needless to say, the rest of the guys brought their own beer.

On the crowded network studios, I wonder how Fox will use Strahan, if he will be there for the whole show, or just certain parts. They only use Glazer and Jillian Barberie Reynolds for about 2 minuteds, Jillian for weather and Glazer for inside news. I think Howie Long is far and above the best on he pregame network pregame shows.

For the tennis talk, I will agree that this was the greatest tennis match ever. The thing is yesterday when we all came back from the 3 day weekend, that is probably the big sports story we should be talking about, but won't. MJH would talk about it, but they probably know that would be a dial turner.

I don't consider myself to be a huge horse racing fan, but I always keep an eye on the triple crown races. I made sure to be in front of the TV for the Belmont Stakes. I don't love NBA basketball, but the playoffs are usually a can't miss for me. It's not about the sports itself. My love for games or events is based on the participants and the compelling nature of the contest.
This has been an unbelievable seven-month ride: Super Bowl XLII, the NCAA men's championship game, Triple-Crown fever, Lakers-Celtics in the NBA finals, Tiger at the US Open, Detroit and Pittsburgh in the NHL finals and now this Wimbledon final. Wow!

Thumbs down to ESPN 1000 and Bruuuuuuuuuce Levine. "First In the Clubhouse... Last to leave..." BULLSHIT!!!"

Your competition down the dial was all over the Rich Harden trade before it was mentioned on your station.

Thumbs down.

Just heard the commercial that Mike Fontenot will be at Triple Threat Sports. I went to their website to look up the information and found that it's $20 to have one item signed by "Chicago Cubs Superstar 2B Mike Fontenot."

Superstar????? :? Granted he's starting to get more playing time, but Superstar.

Fergie Jenkins was offering signed items for $20. How does Mike Fontenot pull that kind of money? I would not walk across the street for a free Mike Fontenot autograph.

I thought I also heard "World Series hero" Geoff Blum in that same Triple Threat commercial. I remember he hit that home run in the marathon Game 3 win for the White Sox in the 2005 World Series before he went back to San Diego and I believe now with Houston...

Thumbs Up to B&B for getting on Ed Hochuli. Maybe MJH can get him on next week as he told B&B that he will be in Bourbannais next week for a few days.

I have a thumbs down for Comcast SportsNet's Dan Plesac. I was flipping channels last night and would go back and forth to the Sox game to see how the "Tigers" :P were doing. I think Dan needs to just stick with the studio analyst gig. He is not meant to be a color guy on television. Maybe it was because he was paired with Hawk, but it was a hard listen for me, especially when he tried to talk like Hawk. I didn't listen to the home run calls, but did he do the "yes" along with Hawk. If so, shame on you Dan. Last I checked you were the conductor on the "big blue train."

Farmer and Stone sounded terrible last night, they were talking over each other, and talking about some stupid shit like Cubs fans in golf carts without keys. Farmer even managed to infer that your average Cubs fan is too drunk to care that there is no key in their golf cart. Christ. But as for Stone? He sounded like he'd never been an analyst before. Steppin in on the play by play, uh-huh-ing thru Farmer... you just don't do that.

I thought Plesac sounded pretty good with Hawk. Actually, I think he's better with color than studio work. It was the first time in a long time that a Sox TV analyst actually analyzed. And it was a nice break from DJ's awkward play by play.

Only watched the 2nd half of the game but posted this in another thread on Plesac's work yesterday...Needless to say I wasn't a fan.

I'm with you in the minority on this one. Everyone else seems to have liked him but even though I understand it takes a bit to establish timing and chemistry, Plesac was just terrible. If I want to have someone read things to me that I see right in front of me on the screen, I'll sit in on PowerPoint presentations in boring business meetings. Otherwise, give me some real insight, don't read me Joel Zumaya's stats off the screen when he comes in to the game.

He needs to learn how to make his thoughts a little more brief (and stop repeating the same thing over and over and over and over) and cohesive. Hawk will be nice to any "guest", but if this was full-time Plesac would NEVER be allowed to talk through entire at-bats (without any play-by-play for the entire at-bat) like he did yesterday.

I'm a big fan of Plesac (and in full disclosure the Cubs for that matter), so I tuned in last night to hear how he'd do.

I thought he was great. Yes, there were a few timing issues, but that is to be expected with any color guy who is just thrown in there with a brand new play-by-play guy. Multiply that times 1000 considering it was Hawk.

In sports terms, I think it was a great first game for a rookie. Not totally polished, but I felt you could see his raw talent. My guess is he will be a play by play guy sooner than later.

I thought Plesac did a nice job last night. Some of his insights were, I think, very informative about the way pitchers think. Nice perspective, sure beats the ah-hahs we get every night from DJ.

He sure picked a great game in which to get his feet wet!

I don't understand how Darrin Jackson has lasted this long with Ken Harrelson on the White Sox TV broadcasts. While Steve Stone has been an upgrade this season on the radio broadcasts with Ed Farmer, I'm not sure what the Sox and their broadcast partners are going to do beyond this season. Everyone seems to think Stone will shift over to TV to replace D.J. if the Sox don't extend his contract, but the Sox flagship radio station should spend the $$$$ and get Dave Wills away from Tampa Bay, and back to Chicago to call his TRUE HOMETOWN TEAM! They need a true play-by-play voice on the radio side, and Wills is a natural for the Sox radio broadcasts...

Stone's future will be dictated on whichever investment group buys the Cubs. I believe Stone is involved in some capacity with one of the groups.
