It's "Dago Night" at the Cell. They brought Dean Martin's daughter in to sing Dago songs. I think everybody in attendance got a free can of Olive Oil.

That was just terrible... after he waved him, he should have run down the line (I'd bet he could out run Thome at that point) then tell him, "No, I screwed up, turn around right now!" At least then there would have been a legitimate play at 3rd instead of a catcher just waiting for the old man to finish his 90 foot stroll.

There is a difference between speed and baserunning. I think that was the point. Thome is a good baserunner, but he has no speed.

Richie Allen was a good base runner. Thome is a basewalker, I believe he was forced out on a single to right.For a very few out there Thome will not be known for his homerun hitting , but
his baserunning prowess!

The sap in a pine tree runs faster in January, than Jim Thome. The fact that he doesn't take chances that his lack of speed makes a foolish proposition, does not make him a good base runner. He's like a full sized Hummer-he's always running station to station.
