It's "Dago Night" at the Cell. They brought Dean Martin's daughter in to sing Dago songs. I think everybody in attendance got a free can of Olive Oil.

Man, how sad is that for Dean's daughter. She's trying to live off her dad's legacy and all she can get is bullshit gigs like this. Showing up at the Cell to sing Italian songs between innings isn't really "Big Time."

i don't consider that shutting anyone down...pitcher gives up more than 1 run, they're not really shutting them down. they may be "keeping the team in the game"...

Tigers are closer to last place than they are 1st. 6 games to last. 8.5 to 1st. Hell, the Royals are only 3.5 games from catching the Tigers.

We win tomorrow and the Tigers are done. It will be us and the Twins for the final 2 months.

Yep I think it is safe to say that it is a two team sprint to the finish now!

It's one thing to talk shit. It's another to hear only crickets after being proven wrong. DFan owes a little mea culpa unless he wants his smack card revoked here on the board. Who's in charge of that anyway?

Except for Rodney. If it weren't for the Sox, he would have an ERA over 10.

Does anyone remember a certain trash talker (prdicting that Angels will annihilate the White Sox) who went by "halo" in the the glorious 2005?

The Sox may need to put up a lot of runs tonight. Javy escaped a jam in the 2nd but with the way he's throwing it looks like he's going to be in trouble all night.

Was Jeff Cox smoking crack? What was he thinking sending Thome? He was out by 20 feet at the plate.

That was just terrible... after he waved him, he should have run down the line (I'd bet he could out run Thome at that point) then tell him, "No, I screwed up, turn around right now!" At least then there would have been a legitimate play at 3rd instead of a catcher just waiting for the old man to finish his 90 foot stroll.

Thome actually moves fairly decent for a power hitter of his age. Konerko, AJ, and Crede on the other hand are snails.

Come on.... I will say this, he isnt a horrible bsaerunner, but there is nothing "moves fairly decent" about him.

There is a difference between speed and baserunning. I think that was the point. Thome is a good baserunner, but he has no speed.

Richie Allen was a good base runner. Thome is a basewalker, I believe he was forced out on a single to right. For a very few out there Thome will not be known for his homerun hitting , but
his baserunning prowess!

The sap in a pine tree runs faster in January, than Jim Thome. The fact that he doesn't take chances that his lack of speed makes a foolish proposition, does not make him a good base runner. He's like a full sized Hummer-he's always running station to station.
