let's see....every song was dragged out too long.
almost all of it was in the same key
One of the worst sonically released albums (only for them to out-bad themselves later with St. Anger)

I love Metallica and always have, but as an album, it hasn't aged well and i would take Death Magnetic, Hardwired and all the Bob Rock albums over Justice. But I know...it was released in their heyday so go ahead and pile on me for that take.

Tool: hold my beer.

my 8th grade ears didn't care at the time.
you can keep the black album, st. garbage, and the loads.

I need to re-listen to Death Magnetic and Hardwired. Some dude on a Facebook group was telling me how I need to re-visit the Black album. the black album is great sonically, but the songs and lyrics are junk.

"Wo-ah, woah."

You're entitled to your opinion, but I think it's their best album, despite the flaws. Justice is one the best riffs ever. I like the solo and how that section slows down to go back to the main riff, where the Justice theme is played again with double tracked guitars. It's an inventive song with good changes. Even Lars' drumming is ok. But you're right, that they could have probably stopped the song after the solo at 7:26 and it would have been fine. The solo soars into the stratosphere, so it was anti-climatic to continue after that. You have a critical ear, BigW72!

"One" is probably Metallica's best song. Blackened and Harvester of Sorrow are also good.

I remember when my boys got Guitar Hero on their X-Box, and were able to unlock One. They were shocked Dad knew the song so well already. Probably my favorite from Metallica.

I think the masterpiece on that album is Frayed Ends of Sanity. For me, that's the one with the best changes and riffs. That middle / slower riff in Blackened is pretty solid as well. The Justice album was MANY peoples intro to Metallica, so I imagine that factors in, which is understandable. I was fortunate to be well into them prior with the release of Puppets. The mix of Justice is my biggest pain point with the album and it bothered me even when it came out.

Death Magnetic is one that I'd suggest people give a listen with fresh ears. It's really, really, really good...and underrated.

I too discovered Metallica with Master of Puppets. I was a 6th grade dirt bag baby...

Damage Inc. or Disposable Hero's are my two favorite Metallica songs.

When I was younger I discovered new music that really moved me all the time. As an old man it hardly ever happens. Part of that is probably because I don't feel anything as deeply as I did as a young man and another part is just that I'm not looking for it. But I heard this song on college radio the other day. It had interesting lyrics so I was paying attention. When she got to the chorus the hair stood up on the back of my neck. It's been a long time since that happened.

I've been feeling down lately, as I'm sure many people are these days, because of the state of the country and memories of lost ones, but then I heard this masterpiece by CCR and enjoyed it tremendously. So much so that I had to play it a few times. Whoever did the soloing (John Fogerty?) exceeded even Blackmore's playing most of the time. The drumming is great as well. I have to put this in my top 10 of all-time.

I have no idea who this girl is, but she kinda looks like a Silverlake Sarah McLachlan.
Nice legs. Cool song.
Kind of piggybacking off your point, I have maintained by interest is listening to stuff I didn't know about, and though I kinda knew this guy thru other bands he was in, I had no idea what to expect with his most recent (2020) solo record. Figured it was 35 minutes to kill thru the cans while I vacuumed yesterday. Man, am I glad I listened. This album is nearly perfect, (IMO) and because it's so short, I've probably listened to it 7 or 8 times in the last 24 hours. Check it out. I'll give you your money back if you ain't digz it.

Ike Reilly's 13th home based set of the year. Up for another day or so. He's performing mostly new songs...great stuff.

He's already recorded these tunes with the full band. Theyre going to be amazing. No release date set.

He's also got a documentary coming out next year. Fingers crossed for my friend.

The song didn't have the same impact on me as it did on you, but I still enjoyed it. Also: Would.

It was pretty cool that Tom Justice showed up in the window. Ike's song about him is okay, but not as good as this one:
