Yeah, a radio guy who gets paid in part to do a little comedy/entertain people along with talking about sports should get fired for making a dumb joke about a stupid leather outfit worn by a sideline reporter. If you believe that you are definitely deplorable.

Nice euphemism there aye? He called her a damn porn star in essence. Thats what he did which was in fact deplorable. First of all the damn outfit wasn't even raunchy. She showed her shoulders. It was stupid to relate it to porn.
Other people lose their jobs over saying similarly stupid shit. He gets paid to communicate. If he believes that it is ok to communicate in that way then he is an idiot.

That's your take. He made a joke about her attire on the sidelines at a sporting event. I don't think it had anything to do with her shoulders. But whatever. You say more offensive stuff on this board everyday. I hope no one who has the power to fire you ever reads it. And I mean that sincerely.

IN i don't and I work in an industry where I have to watch what I say in case you didn't notice.

A principal was whacked in this very city for saying exactly the same sort of thing to students last year. What makes McNeil so different?

You really don't understand the difference between a principal who has complete authority over a school making such a comment to his students and a radio jock saying something similar about another public figure?

Whatever happened to a warning, a reprimand, a suspension, a demotion, etc.? We go right to termination now. I understand there are cost cutting considerations here, but still.

Well to be fair, McNeil is paid to comment on sports matter. Principals are paid to teach students, not comment on their shoulders or outfits.

But McNeil made a big blunder in this hypersensitive world. It’s really fairly innocent, but people are just looking to be offended. Plus she was a poor target. But McNeil has long commented on air about the broadcasts.

Ok then explain the difference. Don't condescending to me about it. There also is a difference between what an anonymous message board poster states on here and what a "PUBLIC FIGURE" places in a tweet also yet you never made that distinction now did you?

Never for something he said or wrote, though, right?

This is just going to have a further chilling effect on the already milquetoast WSCR airwaves.

No we don't. McNeil has said offensive things previously and been allowed to keep his job. Plenty of people in many field's are whacked and have been for years for saying offensive things. It happened well before "cancel culture" became a thing too.

He's paid to comment on sports to his "guys" audience. It wasn't the smartest comment. It was kinda not nice but it wasn't racist or sexist. He has a history of joking about white men's attire too.

He made an offensive remark about a female Chicago Reporter a few years back and was allowed to keep his job.

I honestly don’t recall the reasons other than one on air fight.

The station was already there. They have a groupthink, politically correct mentality that does not really respect or accept opposing opinions. It’s just one step closer to the grave. My sympathy for McNeil is quite low because he went along with the station’s direction.

Why did he immediately remove the tweet then?
He didn't just comment on her "attire" either. He objectified her in a way that was degrading. Thats why he was whacked. If he were just behaving as a 2020 version of Mr. Blackwell then he'd have kept his job.

Recently had a discussion with a guy that owns several business about the current state of affairs. The younger people are so afraid of doing/saying something that their peers will rip them for on social media that they do nothing, are incapable of giving any type of negative feedback, and are unable to fill leadership positions. Many are unemployable in profit driven industries and really are only able to work in entry level positions or government type jobs where no level of job performance is expected.

He didn't say she dressed like a porn star. He said she was dressed like a person covering the AVNs. That's a pretty significant distinction from what you write. Saying she is dressed like a porn star gives some implication of impugning her morality. Dressing like someone who covers the award show journalisticaly only implies that she is not dressing more appropriately for a much more casual gig.

Julie thinks she can cancel every man who isn't a cuck but what does she do about "locker room talk". She will have to monitor dressing rooms and peep into houses at night. We win. Tee hee

Serious question...
Was Julie fired by Mitch or his female boss?
I'm guessing it wasn't Mitch's call.

Julie and Mac were both fired from above. This is 100% about jettisoning any payroll they can before the bankruptcy hits, and yes it's coming in the next 6-9 months.

Entercom's balance sheet is a giant mess and it wasn't that pretty before ad revenues crashed.

LOL I still can't understand why anyone posts on Twitter when everyone KNOWS there are people out there looking to destroy you for the smallest slip-up. What is the reward that is worth having your livelihood destroyed by someone whose mission it is to find this stuff and ruin you? Nothing he tweeted deserved losing his job over. Shes a hot chick, she knows it, she dresses like she is going to a club to be noticed, she gets noticed, and then there is a problem with that? I'm not saying she dressed appropriately or inappropriately, if her bosses are cool with it its fine with me. Has she actually said anything about the tweet? Does she even give a shit what some daytime talk radio host on a barely listened to station tweeted? And does she want Julie DiCaro, a woman who cant POSSIBLY relate to the situation, defending her?

we used to crap all over the ridiculous outfits Craig Sager used to wear on basically a nightly basis. We have made fun of what reporters, announcers, and commentators have worn for decades. zillions of tweets exist on the internet about it. a chick gets made fun of for her outfit and the whole world freaks out.

Critics at XL was a segment of his for years.

He made much more pointed statements back then.

I don't recall a suspension or any discipline at all over that segment.
