Here's a chance for the Cubs to put the Cardinals away. I'd be happy with taking two out of three, but a Cubs sweep would essentially leave the Cardinals in their dust. I like it that the Cubs have Lilly, Zambrano and Dempster going; however, I don't think the Cubs have a great history against Looper, Wellemeyer and Carpenter. The Cubs need to contain Ankiel (although I don't know if he's back from being injured yet), Pujols and Ludwick (sp?). Hopefully Soriano stays hot and the day off yesterday allowed everyone to refuel their bodies.

Lilly: 0-1
Zambrano: 1-1
Dempster: 2-1...
no sweep, but close...

I don't see how any of us can effectively comment on this until Elmhurst Steve writes a novel on his opinions and outlooks for the series.

We must then wait 2 and a half minutes after Steve's post to see Frank's reply.

Then we can all make informed predictions and analysis.

Early in the season I was a proponent of Fukodome batting 5th, liked having a lefthanded bat in the middle of the lineup. But with his recent struggles and the emergence of Edmonds, I would rather have Fukodome batting seventh or eighth and Edmonds batting 5th.
My faith in Kosuke is down right now, doesn't help leaving 4 men on base in 2 at bats.

agreed on Fukudome right now, I would rather have Edmonds in the 5 hole.

Nice throw there by Soriano. He can sure make some bonehead plays out there at times, but there is no doubt he has a good arm.

Yeah, let's take advantage of the Cards trying to give this one away.

Looks like the Cubs' offense forgot there was only one off day, not two. Anytime they'd like to wake up would be fine with me.

I heard he went to Idaho to watch his son play. I don't know for how long though.

Did Goose always sound like his speech was slured?

Interesting decision by Lou to keep Lilly in the game.

I know he has a low pitch count, but with the heart of the order coming up for the 4th time, I probably would have pinch hit and then use Gaudin.

I am sure Goose is reminiscing about that great '88 season he had with the Cubs.

Why does Marmol have to make it so damn interesting? You know what the final result will be, just get it done.

St. Louis has a crappy bullpen. No excuse not to tack something on in the 8th or 9th, but then again, no excuse for Jim Edmonds to be the only guy who can hit fucking Braden Looper.
