Bauer's a pretty funny, insightful interview. Have always been a fan. I feel the opposite about the Verlander.

I’ve heard him a few times on some barstool stuff and agree, he’s always a good listen.

I just don’t like his face.

Yea, he's forever wearing that dour expression.

There you go. Nothing like a couple long balls to brighten up the evening.

Another stupid complaint but is the Fox piped in crowd noise way more aggressive than usual? Every ball in the air gets the home run treatment and it’s causing me some major cognitive dissonance.

If Madrigal hits the ball in the air, I know it’s not going more than 250ft. But the ‘crowd’ pipes up and I’m conditioned to expect a gapper or something.

Agreed. It's awkward and it's got to be distracting for TA.

This team is unreal with these homers. I wonder how many they would hit if they played 162?

I do feel sorry for them because some of this stuff they are doing would flirt with records if they could have played a whole season (and stayed healthy of course.)

In fairness, I don't know if the White Sox win the division or net a league MVP during a 162-game season. This COVID season might be just the perfect team for this young, energetic team. I think they'll also play a lot more freely during the playoffs; there's seemingly much less at stake.

I think the positive long term thing from this will be an attractive place for future FAs to come and play.

I tend to agree. The starting pitching hasn't come together well enough to lead me to believe that they would have made the playoffs after 162. This is actually the kind of year that gets a manager fired. If they start next year slow, Renteria is probably gone, although I know many here want to see that happen now.

despite all of the worry and concern about pitching, the Sox rotation has a top 3 ERA

Dane Dunning has arrived and he is the real deal.

No question. They're a fun, young team. Not to mention, Chicago is a great city to live and play. Stating the obvious, but still... This fanbase has been absolutely starving for a winning, playoff team forever... the fans will come out in droves next year.

I've been pleasantly surprised by the young guys, but do you think they maintain that top 3 ERA through a standard season?

Other than Cease, the underlying numbers behind these guys show the success is sustainable. Even Cease's success may become sustainable if he improves his location and gets more whiffs on his breaking stuff.

The only possible reason is if you believe JR goes cheap and we don't pick up Keuchel. We wouldn't lose a lot, this shortened year anyway, if a pass was taken on Grandal and Encarnacion.

We would have had to dump players if we picked him up, and no way we give Robert the boatload we did.

Robert got a little more than a million a year more than Eloy. 50/6 to 43/6. Actually, what's more possible is Tim gets traded and Jose goes somewhere else. So maybe you're right.

Oh well, that's water under the dam. I'm more than content how it worked out.
