VERY nice to see the Sox score some runs here with small ball. That hit n run in the 3rd was a thing of beauty.

Buehrle looks to be on the money as well. Would be very nice to take this first game.

Oh no! Dustin Pedroia just smacked a 3 run homer off Octavio Dotel in the top 8th to cut the White's lead to 4-3! Mark Buehrle might not favor in this one if Matt Thornton & the other bullpen guys don't hold the Red in check...DAGGUMMIT!

Thankfully, Carlos Quentin hit a monster homer in the bottom 8th, and Bobby Jenks walked a tightrope to get the save for Buehrle as the White Sox beat the Red Sox in the first of four with the soon-to-be former World Champions 5-3 at "The Cell!" :D :D

That was a huge win. Great start by Buehrle. It was nice to see the air taken out of the Red Sox balloon. They need to jump on Rice-K early tomorrow with Old Man Contreras on the mound.

I have a little more confidence if we make the playoffs. I know Buehrle is off and on. But both Buehrle and Danks just dominated two great line ups, in August, in a tight division race. Buehre has been pretty great over his last 10 starts. A couple of bad ones. Danks has basically been great all year.

I think it's possible those 2 guys can be studs in playoff series. It's possible.

Fuck that. They win again in October, they will get national and international recognition.

That was a nice top of the first for Contreras. If he has that splitter working all game it could be a long night for the Red Sox.

Ozzie and Coop said he's been looking sharp as hell in his side sessions. They said he looks like he did to start this season.

Good. We just have to keep this old bastard healthy for 3 more months. Let's hope we can do it.

Amazing. Literally seconds after I post that it looks like he blew out his achilies. I mean it was literally 2 or 3 seconds after I posted the "keep him healthy" shit.

it sure was just seconds.

I thought he stepped awkwardly on the base, but in the replay it did not appear that he even stepped on the base.

This might be a long night for the Sox since they are already in the pen.

Really nice job by DJ filling in for Jose.

Is he going to be the #5 starter now?

Good question...The White Sox got Horacio Ramirez in a waiver trade with Kansas City after the game, but Boone Logan is likely headed for Charlotte before the game tomorrow afternoon at "The Cell" after he couldn't get one stinkin' out!

Ozzie is a bull-headed dick for even putting Logan in that inning - he should have stayed with the hot-handed Carrasco through the first hitter of the inning to gauge him.

Instead, Boone got a bunch of big loads blown all over him, bukkakke-style.

I might be going crazy, but I believe I remember Uribe being at 2nd base at the beginning of this game - he let one get past him - who was at third? The box score does not reflect this, but I swear I saw it.

HELP! Can someone conform this?

I am pretty sure Uribe started the game at 3rd. When Ortiz is up, they put Uribe out in short center and leave OC on the left side of the infield. I think it has to do with Uribe's arm strength. Ortiz did slap a single past Uribe in the first, that might be what you were thining of.

RFDC, laughing out loud about a season-ending injury.

Fuck. Quentin could have caught that home run. If he gets to the wall quicker he could adjust from that point. Go to the wall on a high pop like that. It's easy to come back in. He drifted back and it's 3-0 Red Sox.

This will be a high scoring game. I see the Sox winning this one 12-10 or something like that.

Yeah for some reason the ball is really carrying today. OC hit a liner in the first that almost got over Elsbury's head, and Lowell's HR would have probably not made the warning track on other days.

They play in a bandbox. Maybe Thome can win this with his base running! Joe Borchard hit a 504 foot bomb. You never cease to amaze me!

The ball is carrying but it was more the fact that the Red Sox pitcher sucked.

Dye, Quentin, and Thome's homers would have been out on any day; in any park in MLB. Even if the wind was blowing in. Those balls were killed. All of them.

The Red Sox 3-run homer was the only cheap one. That was a "Cell cheapy."

Is it just me or is Rameriz the 2nd coming of Jorge Orta? Remember John Wooden wanted Jorge to play bb at UCLA!

That blond sitting behind the Sox dugout looks like a slut. She's banged a few in her life. You see her in that side camera shot and it seems like she's giving a seductive smile to all the Sox fans watching. Her shorts are hiked up pretty high.

She's no beauty queen (not ugly either) but I'm getting sexually aroused by her.

Fuck Thornton. Walks the bases loaded. Can somebody not be a scared pussy when they start an inning? Can we challenge these fuckers. This nibbling shit is a joke. Cost Boon Logan his job yesterday.

Now we need the double play from Dotel.

The great thing is that Dotel got 2 outs with only 2 pitches. He'll be strong to go the entire 8th.

Yeah. It really should be the 12-10 game I thought it would be. Both teams have stranded them today.

Just win. I thought Floyd pitched well. He battled. Gave up 4. Cheap 3 run homer.

He's still in line for the win. Let's get it for him.
