I didn't buy this bullshit with Foles. He's 32 and on his 4th team. I'd rather ride with the younger guy and hope he's the future. They're even at best. And I think Mitch is a little better than him.

Somebody on this board said Foles has a better arm then Mitch. No he doesn't. Mitch is a tick or 2 better then him with arm strength. And Mitch can run. That's why I wanted Mitch.

So I was right. It wasn't a 2nd guess. I said it last week.

Mitch sucks. No need for false hope with him and needs to go away after this season. Playing Foles makes it easier to dump Nagy and possible Pace.

This isn’t a Mitch vs Foles debate.

This is a “this organization is fucked” discussion.

When your team doesn’t have a top 10 quarterback you’re generally going to struggle. This team doesn’t even have a clear cut starter.

It’s gonna get worse before it gets better. A lot worse. I predict Pace being launched at seasons end and Nagy gets one year beyond that. Not because that makes sense but because that’s just what I can see happening.

I know. I'm just talking about getting the most wins out of this season. Cuz this is what we have. And I thought it was Mitch.

We'll still make the 7th seed either way. Just thought it's better to go with Mitch. That's all.

The Bears offense consists of some of the worst players in the league running the dumbest plays in the league.

Pace AND Nagy need to go.

Mitch will lead the Bears to 7 or 8 wins, just like last year. This isn't a playoff team.

I refuse to even watch this team. I slogged thru the Cubs’ shitty ways simply because I’m a baseball masochist but this shit? Fuck this team and their garbage. I’m good

Yeah, there's nothing exciting or compelling about this team. It's all just an amorphous mass of mediocrity.

This season is a joyless slog but it’s still football, so I’ll take it.

You realize how bad the NFC east is, right? Yes, this is a playoff team for the 7th seed. I know, so what? They still suck. But so do a lot of teams in the NFC. All I'm saying is they are a 7th seed and out in the first round. That's not a compliment.

Play Foles, Ok. That gets you nowhere. Play the younger guy is all I'm saying. Cuz who cares about the older guy that won't be a part of a Super Bowl team. It's that simple to me.

Mitch is the greater potential of the two evils.

Nobody gets what I'm saying. Which amazes me.

I don't care if you don't realize this. Fucking Nagy and Pace should. I'm smarter then them.

What are you right about? Neither guy is the future. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky will likely play again this season, but he has proven he's not the future.

This is a 7 to 9 win team. They aren't bad enough to get a high pick and aren't good enough to make a deep run in the playoffs. The defense is not dominant, but will keep them in most games.

Fine. My point is play the younger guy. Get it? Cuz maybe he can improve. Maybe he won't. So what? Foles is what he is. Christ. I can't explain this point any better.

Why waste time with fucking Foles when you know what he is?

We're not winning the SB either way. I'm 100% we have to move on from Foles. I'm 75% we have to move on from Mitch. So I want to take that percentage. So play Mitch.

Playing (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky doesn't change anything. We know what he is in this offense.

The team will be limited by it's offense. Foles is capable of more upside and downside. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is mediocre.

I dont want to see Mitch improve. He is who we thought he was. Any chance he can con them into giving him another contract is not worth the long term health of the team.

The same is true of (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. What are you expecting to find out (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky?

Fuck. You guys just don't get it.

It's about the greater good at this point. And you don't get it. That's fine.

You act like I think Mitch is great. I don't. You don't listen to what I'm saying.

One guy is old. One guy is young. They are equal. (I actually think Mitch is slightly better, whatever) PLAY THE YOUNGER GUY.

Fuck. It's common sense to me.

Mitch is a fucking idiot. He will never get it. Foles at least knows the playbook. The only thing better about Mitch is he can take off running when things break down. Unfortunately they need to lose out to have a chance at Trevor. So maybe they should play Mitch going forward.

Fuck. Nobody listens to what I've been saying. Who gives a shit about Foles, is my point. Even if you think he's better. It doesn't matter for this year. It doesn't matter for the future either. You might as well see if Mitch improves. Because even if there is a 1% chance of Mitch improving, there is a 0% chance of that happening with Foles. We know what he is. Get it? And we're not winning a SB with either of them this year.

So play Mitch. You fucking drafted him 2nd pick overall. That's quite an investment. You might as well give him every opportunity to prove you were right. Why not? Cuz Foles isn't gonna win a SB for the Bears.

I'm done. I think I've explained it as well as I can.

There is a chance Mitch could improve by say 5% but not enough to make any significant difference. If he does these idiots may resign him. We do not need that.

We know what (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is after 2+ seasons in this offense. Foles age is not an issue, his up and down play is, same with (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky (his play is more consistently mediocre). I don't think there's a big difference, but age should not be a determination in who plays. That's ridiculous.

I think to distill your point to its essence is that you feel there is still a chance for an upside with Mitch, though you agree that what he has shown currently is not enough for a team with championship ambitions. You also feel that Foles has had ample opportunities over the years to show what he can do with a number of different teams and he still always comes up short. Since they have had similar outcomes, you favor going with the less experienced fellow because the smaller sample set may not be truly indicitive of what he is capable of.

I think the majority of people agree that neither player is exceptionally good at playing QB. I think another reasonable argument would be that we have seen (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky fail to succeed with these players again and again for many games now, while we have only seen Foles fail with these players once. For the majority of us (and I believe even you agree to some extent) we have seen enough to know that (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is not going to be the answer. I believe people want a change because repeating the same thing and failing over and over seems very silly. What we all know deep down though is that the success of this offense is beyond just the QB, and changing a QB isn't likely to save the season anymore than expecting a miraculous (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky growth spurt in playing ability. But a change is a change, and at least it is different. And maybe that will get us to a point where we can actually see real changes in a couple of months.

I think maybe it would be a good time to reflect on sunk costs. Yes, we all had great hopes for (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky when he was drafted (whether we thought the pick was good or not, we all hoped he would be great.) But that hasn't turned out to be the case. And his ability to play QB right now has no tie to his draft position. Mahomes plays as well as Mahomes plays regardless of where he was drafted, RG III plays like RG III, Luck plays like Luck, Montana like Montana, Elway like Elway. The draft position is an educated guess of how good a person might turn out to be. We are 43 games into the career now. The spot in the draft is irrelevant at this point. One needs to look at their personal feelings and look at the facts, and separate the two in order to have good judgment moving forward.

The fact of the matter is that neither (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky or Foles is going to be the QB that a team wants to have running things for their franchise. But these are the two you have to pick from (unless you want to get crazy and try to poach some other team's practice squad players -- if that is even allowed in Covid times.) You sort of have to ride out the season here, and it is a little concerning frankly that you feel this QB decision is going to make a meaningful impact on the Bears future enough to belabor this point in the face of pretty much everyone disagreeing with your assesment.

There isn’t much you can do with an inaccurate quarterback. Go ahead and play Mitch maybe he gets slightly better at decision making or reading defenses but there still isn’t much you can do with an inaccurate quarterback.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky isn't a pro quarterback. He doesn't even deserve to be on an NFL team. Quit talking like he is still the answer. He doesn't develop or learn how to be better, even with a QB guru as coach.

Foles is just a guy. Without help from the O-line, he was exposed yesterday for his limitations. Foles is not going to beat you with his legs, but he can beat you with his arm when given protection.

The Bears were outclassed yesterday on both sides of the ball. You could have had Cam Newton in there and gotten beat. The Colts were hungrier and made more plays.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is better. Play to win this year and let him go somewhere else.

There were only a few plays where Foles had time to get to his second or third reads, most of the time Miller dropped those passes, so the game was more of a barometer of Oline, WR, and TE talent than Nagy/Pace would like, games like these show the systemic deficiencies of the roster and make one question the organizations hiring of Pace/Nagy. Ballard was a Bears scout and they passed on him, Reich was available and they took the offensive genius Nagy.

Play the guy who is most likely to get Pace and Nagy fired as soon as possible.

That has to be Foles if only to highlight just how stupid it was to give up a draft pick for him and give him a new contract.

Unfortunately, it is looking like another rebuild after this year.

I believe the two were ranked something like 31 and 32 in QB rankings going into the season. They are indistinguishable from each other in terms of talent. They get it done, or more often not done, in different ways but the result is ultimately almost the same

Beardown seems to be stuck in 2017 where Trubinsky is an unknown talent sitting behind a crappy veteran just waiting for a chance to show Chicago what he can do. Beardown, please binge watch the 2017 - 2019 seasons and then get back to us.
