You may be right as to the real reason for Dan's dismissal. I think Spiegal along with Rahimi would be pretty good. No show that has Parkins in a leading role is going to be good.

why does this idea continue to exist? Rahimi adds about as much as mcknight. If she were a man no one would think about her at all.

In my opinion, Parkins is fine, he's a professional and I think he's pretty good for a younger guy in the industry. I just don't think he is as edgy as he thinks. I'm not saying he should schtick it up but I do feel he could make a leap at some point. I like how he came to the score with there being friction with some of the incumbent guys and he seemingly didn't back down. Right now as a radio personality he's just not a needlemover or appointment radio, but I feel like he could get there.

To put it politely, Rahimi is overall mediocre at best as a radio host and below average at worst. Certainly faaaaaar from compelling or thought provoking.

She’s certainly capable of improving and I’m hoping she does. But I’d rather not listen to her in a full time capacity as she learns on the job.

Her once a week gig with Bernsie is just fine

She is the female Rozner. Fine for a fill in here and there but when it becomes more full time it just doesn’t work.

That’s insanely disrespectful to Barry haha. Like him or not his knowledge was extensive.

Leila? I haven’t been impressed once by her sports “knowledge.”

Certainly not meant in a knowledge kind of way. Barry has been a part of the Chicago sports scene for 40+ years probably. He knows or has seen more Chicago sports than most but after a few day of him it get to be too much. With Leila get you a bit excited to listen to at first but then you begin to question why the fuck you are listening to it because there is just nothing there.

I think finding your radio voice is similar to finding your voice as a standup comic. Before you get there you're doing an amalgamation of acts you respect. Ultimately, you find your own voice/act over the course of time or it just never happens. I believe Parkins is a Stern fan, and I can hear it to some degree. But I can't help but think that all he knows is roughly the 2010 and on version, which for lack of a better word has been suboptimal in my opinion. Or is it more Rogan? No one in sports talk radio will ever do what Stern did in the 90s, but I kinda feel like Parkins gets 'it' more than most other guys. Whether any of this means anything, who knows, probably not. Thank you, drive through.

He has a Walter Payton picture, Bears jersey, Bears hat, and Bears mug, so he must know a lot about sports, especially football.

Even as McCown, in fact, spent about another decade as a desireable backup and occasional starter in the league, making his mocking look all the more foolish

Ramie is a Chicago guy that did talk radio up here for a while, before taking a position with a sports station in Minneapolis. He was one of their cuts. Big Bears and Cubs fan.

Yeah, he did the afternoon show on SSP, right? I think he's from Palatine (or as the Lady Jane's guy called it, Pallantine). He's been a guest on Laurence's show a time or two. He's more compelling than Parkins.

Correct, he was the driver on the afternoon show.

I agree. I'm eager to hear some fresh blood.

Bernstein and Spiegel did sound good together yesterday.

One thing is clear: Mitch Rosen has no confidence in Parkins as a solo host.

Rahimi has a manly voice.

I want a woman on air who takes my mind off of work and makes me think about boning her when I hear her talk. . . and who also knows a thing or two about sports.

I also like listening to women who obviously turn-on the people they are interviewing and get them to let their guard down in interviews.

I just tuned in after seeing this thread because I have heard of This Ramie Guy.

Parkins sounds intimidated by a guy who might be funnier than him.

Sounds very similar to the way Spiegs sounded when Danny himself came in. He keeps calling him "Ramie Whatshisname" and told him to check what the name of the show is when he made a funny quip!

Interesting. . .
