He's never really proved anything. Hub has a man crush on him though and thinks it's all the offensive line's fault.

He’s a #2 at best. The guy that comes in while your bellcow takes a breather after a 40 yard run.

he runs hard... good for him. he's also not explosive and has well below average speed..... bad for him. the one time a 4.6 guy actually plays even slower than his 40 time.

The funny thing is that Nagy/Pace didn't like Howard, in part, because he lacked explosiveness.

So what do they do?

Trade up in the draft to select a guy who is even less explosive than Howard.

Fire Pace immediately.

Running backs mean nothing in today's NFL. There are 5 good running backs in the whole league.

We took Montgomery over Devin Singletary in the 2019 draft. No guarantees he would have been any better with us, but if we could re-do that 2019 pick, I would take Singletary over Montgomery any day.

You didn't have a problem with it while assessing Josh Jacobs w/ only 2 OL starters at full strength.

Terry McLaurin was available. They could have drafted McLaurin and taken any number of RB's in the 4th rd if they wanted a RB/WR in the 3rd and 4th rounds. They ended up taking Ridley in the 4th and he has been a bust.

They also had a ton of linemen available to help the offense that they passed on to pick a RB. Stupid in todays NFL.

There are good backs with bad lines throughout the league. Good backs will occasionally change direction, cut back against over pursuit, juke a guy, run over a guy, break a tackle, or bust a long run.

They’ll still have low yards per carry, but you’ll see flashes of ability. I just don’t see any of that with Monty.

I don't think montgomery is great but he's getting hit behind the line on most plays. How bout stop running out of the shotgun every play

Agreed. I like that he has hands and doesn’t put the ball on the ground. I wish he had more speed but he’s far from bad.

The Bears need a power runner who can get some cheap yards by running over tacklers. Montgomery's shuffle and slide style only works with a good offensive line!

I dunno man. I was high on him pre-draft but he's slower than the last day of school. Pretty sure he's a bust
