Yep- he's 26 already, and off to a good start as a Pharmacist. The local brewery (The Watermark) is opening a wedding venue, they get $30/guest just for the liquor. If that ends up being the place, we've been invited to help! Pretty sure our bar tab was closer to $3/guest, about 30 years ago. We're stopping in tomorrow night after work for a walk-through/taste test (I hope!)

Called in today to Dunkin Donuts customer service to add some missing points to my DD Perks account (I had kept the receipts).

He said it was worth 40 points but as a courtesy he would add enough points (200) to give me a free iced coffee.

Dunkin Donut guy gave me a free donut today!

It was some sort of ghost pepper donut.

It was really good.

Yeah. Hes a nice enough guy and he likes sports and scary movies and stuff but he's moving to Barstow for work and after years of being together its a bit of a relief. I thought that it would be nice to make our relationship official but he refuses to come out to his coworkers or family. We never got to go out together, supposedly I'm his roommate and we have a two bed condo that we kept a bedroom made up like someone was living there for when his folks or brother stopped by. That kind of sucks.

And did you lure him by with a trail of shiny nickels and dimes?

no, it was a dude named James and a redhead named Stephanie that dropped the bike off. I didn't see any nickels or dimes in coin form....although, Stephanie was a dime.

Was notified today by MSHSAA that my daughters doubles team has the 3rd most career doubles wins in state history and their season record last year was the 9th best in state history.

we were notified that the little foster girl we've had for 2 years (she's 3) is 1 step closer to adoption. They changed the foster goal from reunification to permanency a year ago yet its taken this long for them to finally terminate parental rights.

the parents didn't show up to court once and this judge kept giving them chances to make it.

covid through it for a loop of course but even so, i can't wait to uselessly put "no" to retain him as a judge on my ballot this year.

the best part of all this is that the mom and dad refuse help, they won't go to a shelter, they've burned through living at all their friends houses. So they have been for the past 4 months living in a tent under one of our cities bridges. the past few weeks they've been tent-less because the police keep making them take it down. the courthouse is literally a block away. and they've never gone and its just excuse after excuse. they've had covid 3 times now.

we are one hearing away from adopting her and the DA basically said he's had enough and is hoping to at the next hearing get approval to streamline the adoption of her brother (who we have who is 3 mo old). It typically takes 9 mo to get "return home" changed to "permanency"

on a road trip, we listened to siamese dream the whole way through.

my kids informed me that it was the worst music and singing they had ever heard in their life (15, 13, 9, and 3). at one point the 3 year old covered here ears and asked why i was hurting her.

It truly hurt me.

update:

our 3 yr old spent the day yesterday coloring a couple of pages and my wife went and had some nice pictures printed of her.

Today was to be the final visit for the parents to say goodbye.

the parents canceled the visit.

my wife is sad i was like good. worthless people deserve no more of her light.

As I’ve written before: you and your wife are special people and I wish your whole family nothing but the best.

That said, the comment regarding the parents getting Covid three times is a bit concerning.

yeah these people haven't been to the doctor in ages. the list of excuses is pretty wild. my wife has them written down.

they couldn't come to court or visits because of :

- rain getting them all wet
- covid or someone they know has covid (the learned this trick a few weeks ago)
- sunburn
- bum ankle
- diarrhea
- headache
- wrong bus
- court time is too early (9:00)

and countless others. this has been ongoing for 2 years.

Keep in mind, a good chunk of this time, they've been living down by the river a block or 2 away from the courthouse.

The parents sound like pure trash, which makes you a perfect fit.

Seriously though, congratulations. I couldn't even imagine dealing with that kind of situation.

hnd, are these parents druggies or alcoholics, or just complete Lowlife? Not that you have to go into detail, I'm just curious is all.

And there is going to be a special place in heaven, probably right next to the dumpster, for you and your wife and your family. That is seriously an amazing thing that you are doing with your life.
