I'm trying to determine what the league-wide batting average is for NL pitchers for a given year

Poked around a bit at baseballreference.com and couldn't find anything. I don't want to have to average all the individual players averages myself, hoping there's a quick number out there somewhere

did you try the baseball almanac? don't know if they pull from the same source but i always use the almanac, seems like it has deeper stats.
