Jed was always Theo's frat brother. He had the title of GM, but Theo made all the decisions. Now he finally gets the big chair.

He kind of has no pressure for the first couple of years. It's a mess. They have to rebuild after next year.

To be honest, they should"t sign Baez, Rizzo, Contreras or Bryant. Let them all go. Try to trade all of them at the deadline. Or do it in this offseason if you can. Then do the rebuild thing all over again. That would be the smart move.

i thought the theo postiion was just a made up one specially for theo so he could serve as gm without the official gm title?

Do you think Jed was a good choice to run the team? Is he a better practitioner of Theosophy than Theo? Because the team hasn't changed direction--it's just shifted gears, likely downward.

I don’t see much of a reason for active pessimism.

Ricketts will play more of a role in the next 5 years, which gives me greater cause for concern. He’s ultra conscious of the budget, the ownership honeymoon has worn off, he’s got a World Series, and he wants Marquee to succeed ASAP.

Time will tell if Jed, or anyone, has the kind of carte Blanche that Theo had. I suspect not.
