Two rules

1. You only get to name one song. That’s it. No fence riding bullshit. No “____ is a close second” shit. We all wanna do that

2. It has to be released between 1/1/90-12/31/99

Who ya got?

I got Three Days by Jane’s Addiction

I don't really like this song that much, but since it's the most prominent song of the Grunge Era, I have to go with Smells Like Teen Spirit.

You have to break it up. Lots of genres and early 90s is different from mid and late 90s. Crazy times.

If anybody says smells like teen spirit of some bullshit I'll punch you in the ovaries.

No breaking it up. You only get one song. That’s what makes one’s post actually meaningful. Anyone can name a half dozen songs from different genres they love.

Warren, you had one post my man! And you used it on a song you don’t even like. Smh. Ryan Pace is better at drafting than you.

Feel free to mention any and all of em.

But your first post naming a song gotta only name that one song and that’s your pick. Talk about the rest afterwards

Tubthumping. It is the perfect embodiment of 90s music. Catchy, yet forgettable.

I named one and satisfied the rules I set forth. So saying that I’ll say Semi Charmed Life is this song for me.

If this thread turns into "what's my favorite song of the 90's for whatever idiosyncratic reason I decide to use," it's going to be incredibly boring. You're going to have about 107 different responses.

It not my genre usually, but "Nothing But a G Thang" is gonna be pretty fucking tough to beat in this thread.

Hate that song. At my husbands Christmas party years ago one of the higher ups kept putting it on and the all the underlings had to act like that was the greatest song ever. People kept making me dance to it and If I never hear it again I'm good.

That’s fair. Luckily my song in the OP covers both best and favorite.

If I’m going rap it’s Regulate without a close 2nd, and that’s not really my genre either

I’ve named three songs in this thread and imo they all fit that description.

Even if you prefer most influential or some other subjective term it will still be 107 different responses. Any music topic goes that way.

"Most influential" will at least lead to some debate. If somebody comes on here and tells me their favorite 90's song is Torn by Natalie Imbruglia, I can't really argue you with them and tell them that they're wrong.

This is a rough thread because in 1990 I was 12-13 and in 1999 I was 22-23. That's a huge difference and I love Britney, the backstreet boys, and n'sync.

Certainly the best guitar solo of the 90s (specifically the first solo out of the three in the song).
