What are the major differences between these?

I have chromecast back at home and I really have enjoyed it. You can cast anything from a laptop to iphone to netflix. Very flexible device.

We also noticed that Roku offers comcast and that is a selling point to get Roku. But is roku limited and not as flexible like chromecast is? Will I be able to cast from a laptop with Roku?

And how does Amazon Fire compare to these two?

Amazon Stick and Roku stick are on sale this week on black friday amazon so asking if I should go w/ those or just stick w/ chromecast? We won't be able to get comcast though but everything else w/ chromecast.

Amazon and Roku don't tie up your browser. They have "channels" or in other words apps. You can get Amazon Prime video on a Roku app.

I have both because I got an Amazon stick for free at some point. The Roku interface is a little clunkier if you want to search for stuff, but I have just a few apps on there and so it's fine. If you go for a Roku, make sure you get a 4k or an ultra because older ones can't play all the newer channels.

Chromecast is 18 bucks today at target. I'll probably go w/ this then.

the new chromecast 2020 is what you want (google tv). its stand alone like the firestick, but without all the garbage the amazon one has. and it's full android, no limitations other than it won't support a mouse... but you can put a usb hub on it to add more storage space, and also ethernet wire. its like a shield tv pro just without the games.

it also runs Kodi perfectly... it's incredible what you can do with a $50 device these days.

the remote is also awesome. the power and volume buttons are IR, so they can control your tv.
