Vainisi wasn't a player personnel guy like Finks, he was an accountant. But he was a good counterweight to Ditka. I wonder if Ditka would have acted differently in 1987 if Vainisi was still around, maybe Ditka wouldn't have been antagonistic to the striking players

Finks just couldn't seem to find a good head coach.

Their teams had a lot of talent, but Neill Armstrong wasn't the guy. And jack Pardee wasn't much better.

couldn't find a QB either. Had a chance to draft Joe Montana, took Willie Mcclendon instead. Thought they were set with the troika of Phipps, Avellini and Evans. Trades a number one pick for Phipps.

Finks drafted the main stays on both lines that carried them through the 80's.

A good offensive line can make up for a lack of stars on offense.

Adams is the only stud the Pack has.

Their top 2 RB's are 4th and fifth round picks.

Hate him or love him, Lovie st least understood that being competitive against the packers was important.

Nagy is content to get his ass pounded.

Lovie knew where the team was. Step one was start winning division games. Step two, playoffs. Step three, Super Bowl.

The next coach needs to have the same attitude as this is pretty close to starting over.

well actually his first step was to beat the packers... and he wasn't wrong to say that (despite dipshit bernstien acting like that doesnt matter)

everyone i know just wants to beat the packers. we could go 2-14 and if those two wins are against green bay, fine. at least we got that. all we want is bear packer games to be fun, becuase the last 15 years its NOT fun to have your neighbors over for these.
