I’m sure this debate will happen 1,000,000 more times before April, but it’s going to be tough to change my mind on the strategy of building the offense.

Also, Lawrence and maybe Fields are the only no doubt QB prospects that would sway me.

The kid from BYU impresses me more and more. As of right now I would be good with going for him.

4 olinemen and a quarterback. Nothing else is acceptable.

Bears should take four o line dudes - and they should only be from the Big Ten or SEC.

He is impressive.

NFL arm for sure.

A good offensive line sent Mitch to the Pro bowl.

IMO offensive line is by far the biggest need.

Brugler has you guys taking Slater.

Interesting.

Sounds like a future guard, but maybe works at right tackle.

Was a piece in the Athletic about him. They thought he could project as a tackle but his arm length isn’t great for the position.

I would not be mad at all if they spent all the picks on Oline.

I mean I want a left tackle, but if Slater is the best available line prospect available then we must take him.

He's expected to be the 2nd best offensive lineman in the draft its just a question of where he will play. Zierlein says his technique and physical ability will make up for his arm length and he's a tackle. He had a good game vs. Chase Young.

I’m good with him.

Let’s fast forward to April.

Can’t take much more of this shitshow every Sunday.

It’s a best available situation for me. If he is the best, you pick him.

It seems like every year the best college linemen project as guards even if they were tackles throughout their amateur career. There are usually 1 or 2 that get picked in the top 10 as tackles but the rest get moved.

This team is going nowhere without finding at least a Stafford-level QB in the off-season. I'd put that type of QB as the minimum you need to compete.

That’s probably the correct answer. But then the question is who could they reasonably acquire that meets your criteria?

Only if we can give away valuable draft picks to get him.

Next year is a rebuild with a new GM and new coach. Draft offensive linemen, sign Jameis to a one year deal to make the games fun bad, go 5-11 or 4-12 and then draft a QB with a pick in the 4-7 range.

Probably need to trade Mack as well. Maybe even Hicks. They won't be good by the time this team might compete in 2023.

Pace took his shots after having Fox foisted on him. He whiffed on QB, he whiffed on HC, he did ok on Mack but it wasn't enough. Now there is two years of rebuilding to regroup.

Draft offensive line this year.

Draft Dillon Gabriel next year.

It’s the only way we contend.

I don’t think so. It implies something was once built here.

Every team was great at some point.

Unless you’re the Lions.

I know we've discussed this but I don't know if rebuilding is actually a thing in the NFL. If things you go right you can find yourself contending randomly. Strength of schedule, injuries to other contending teams, lucky wins that later on get reinterpreted as great, close wins, etc. I don't get the idea of gutting the Bears. It's not needed. Up until two weeks ago, they were a good defense with an atrocious offense. Fix the offense and tread water on defense. Maybe you can be the Buffalo Bills or Cleveland Browns of 2021.

The last time the bears had a good offense I couldn't grow a beard. Or have it come in snow white like now.

Honestly, no shit.

Everyone in this thread is discussing rebuilding the offense.

What’s your point?
