HBO decided to release all of their 2021 movies on their streaming service the same day they hit theaters next year.

Maybe the biggest big budget director in our lifetimes is not happy about that.

His brother is also the lead writer/show runner for the HBO show Westworld.

But HBO Max isn’t the worst streaming service. Dumb take.

Besides WB released Tenet in US theaters like he wanted (Why did Nolan want us to kill grandma just to see his dumb movie?) and it made shit money. His own movie showed why releasing anything in the current environment is a bad move. WB handled the announcement poorly, but they just announced theaters were dead, something else killed them.

Kudos to him.

The Courageous must be hailed.

The sycophantic Cowards must be shamed.

It doesn't seem like he would be remotely biased.

Plus they don't stream in 4k, which is unconscionable.

Why are people fighting so hard for big corporations that pay big money to limit your choice on how to watch a movie for up to a calendar year?

Movie theaters are like Bill Wirtz not letting the Blackhawks on tv because he only wanted people to come to see a game in person but it's even worse because at least Bill Wirtz was creating the product and not having others create the product and then just creating the only venue it can be consumed.

Movie theaters aren't the good guys and they never have been. Let them compete with home streaming.

You can do better than that.

Can you explain to me why it's good for me as a person who likes to watch movies that I have to wait up to a calendar year to watch it anywhere but a movie theater? How is it different than what Bill Wirtz did to Blackhawks fans for years?

Piracy will increase and that will lead to higher prices for you and other customers! Bad!

so this is about a Hollywood millionaire not happy he won't be getting as much money as he would before? Cool story.

That's a hilarious analogy.

Haven’t seen it yet, but it can’t be worse than the Harley Quinn movie.

Just watched it the other day. If not for closed captioning it would have been unwatchable.

As it was, I found the premise pretty stupid and not believable in the least.
