Also, if the guy isn't a complete statue like Foles, he won't get beat up that much as a member of the Bears. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is doing fine. His injury was caused on a run.

It's an interesting group. Covert and Van Horne were both first rounders. I think Bortz and Hilgenberg were undrafted. The rest were all lower mid round guys.

I saw standing next to Hilgy in the buffet line at brunch on a sunday at the deer path inn years after his retirement. He had shrunk to the level that I didn't realize it was him at first. He's the size that you wouldn't think twice about throwing down with him if he gave you trouble in a bar.

Bortz, Thayer and Covert all were drafted in 83

I see that Bortz was, in fact, drafted. 8th round, which doesn't exist any more.

The 83 bears draft class...7 starters and 2 HOFers

Pretty pretty good

not good for the people who want a QB. Just fine for the people who want an OL.

That win on Sunday really hurt.

Picks 4 through 13 in the first round are a crapshoot right now.

They need to build an OL in this draft with the draft position they currently have.

It would actually be a perfect time to trade up to get a quarterback, if they hadn't spent so many previous draft picks trading for quarterbacks.

Instead, we are getting Tanner Morgan and throwing him in way too early when Foles is out in week 4.

I think we can get a QB in the 2nd. How many QB do you think are going in the first 45 picks?

I know you didn’t ask me, but I think there is a good chance 6 QBs go in the first 45 picks.

Lawrence
Fields
Lance
Wilson
Trask
Jones

I feel strongly about those names in the first.

Mond from A&M and Newman from Georgia are also possibilities in the late first or early second.

Fear if Pace is still running the show he's trading up for Wilson or Trask. Still think you have to take a shot at LT in the first and QB in second.

All the good ones will go in the first round. After that you are hoping to get lucky.

There are some nice fliers to take. I'm warming to Ridder at Cincinnati. Newman should be there maybe even into the third. A recent climber is JT Daniels at Georgia. He's a transfer from USC and the offense has been markedly better since he became the starter. King from Miami could be a very interesting developmental guy who you could put in other positions in year 1-2. I'm not sure if he is staying for another year or not.

Sam Ehlinger and Ian Book are two QB who I'd like to see at the Combine. They have that kind of winner trait about them. I don't know how the physical skills stack up.

Anyway, there are guys. Not Day 1 starter guys but fliers who worthy of 2-3 draft day looks.

The only non 1st round grade QB who is of any interest to me is Kellen Mond.

I feel like fliers should be taken when you already have an established but aging QB. If you draft a guy in round 2 or 3 then you are saying he will be the starter in the future. That's a big gamble if you don't have somebody already in place.

Etienne would look very good in a Bears uniform.

Would be pretty hilarious if they spent a top 50 pick on an RB

Still plenty of prospects available with that second pick. Purdy, Pickett and Ridder.

Id take a gamble on 8 or 9 guys over Fields who will go in the top 5. There will be talent in the 2nd. Bears just have to identify it.
