You didn't miss much. Moreau made a nice play and the offense looked good until we got to the 10. As usual the defense showed they're the worst in the league. They'd be dead last in every category if our offense didn't hold on to the ball. Guenther isn't exactly a fall guy (his scheme is over-complex and soft) but Marinelli is the one that killed us this season. He better be gone next.

I think Wade Phillips would be the best hire of the names I'm seeing. Switching to a 3-4 wouldn't be too difficult. Hankins is a very good nose and Ferrell, Nassib, and Irving can play 5-tech. Ferrell would probably be more effective as a 5-tech. Crosby can play the edge and we can draft another outside backer or sign someone. He made Littleton and Joyner look like pro-bowlers. He's older but I have no doubt he could do the job for a couple of years and build a foundation for the future.

Joe Barry would be a nightmare. He's Marinelli's son in law. The last thing we need is that mummy hanging around.

Gregg Williams is the dark horse. Football people know how good he is. I'm sure Gruden noticed how much pressure he was able to generate with basically one player. His scheme would fit our secondary way better than Guenther. We've been drafting press corners and Guenther plays mostly soft zone. Williams likes to bump and run which Mullen, Arnette, Johnson, and Robertson excel at.

I think the Atlanta game was the biggest...that was the one we had to have. It will be interesting to see if the defense shows up. 2 respected players called out the scheme and Gruden kept throwing the players under the bus when they knew his 2 buddies were inept. Tonight we might see a total collapse with some guys making business decisions. If they do show up it means Gruden hasn't lost them yet. Guenther's scheme is an over-complicated mess so if Marinelli was smart he ripped about 75% of that bullshit out of the playbook and he's going to let them play what's in front of them.

He had a rough year but the offense was good for the most part. With an average defense we'd be in good shape. The historically bad defense is his fault though...firing Buckner and bringing in Marinelli was incredibly stupid and that was all on him. Guenther didn't want him. He needs to make a good choice on his DC hire. Marinelli needs to fucking go...that's the top priority.
