With the Cubs having won their last 6 series' and now at .500 on the road and 28 over at home, they will look to improve their standings further, against the Reds. Dusty has lost Cub killer Adam Dunn and Ken Griffey Jr. as well. It is also a plus, that Edinson Volquez will not bring his 15-5 record and 2.73 ERA to the bump, in this series. Instead, the Reds will have Johnny Cueto (8-11 4.90 ERA) pitch in game 1 against Rich Harden (7-2 2.17 ERA). Game 2 has Bronson Arroyo (10-10 5.51 ERA) facing Ted Lilly (12-6 4.32 ERA) . In the final game of the series, Carlos Zambrano will get a chance to finally add victory #13 (currently 12-5 3.38 ERA) when he faces Aaron Harang, who has had a rough season to date and stands at 3-13, with a 5.59 ERA. All signs seem to be pointing to a 7th consecutive winning series. :D :D :D

Cueto is usually pretty solid against the Cubs, but at Wrigley with this team as hot as it is, I think the sorry-ass Reds will get their shit ruined. The Cubs have a nice solid stretch of series that they should win hands down. They got the Reds (bad), Nats (bad), Pirates (bad), Phillies (good, but at Wrigley), etc. The Cubs don't have a difficult series until the final 13 games when they play the Cards, Brew crew x2, and Mets to close out the season. If they win out these series against shitty teams, they could mathematically have the central sealed shut by then.

Just don't be one of those obnoxious Cub fans, you don't want to offend a Marty Brennaman.

2 bad base running plays this inning, and Harden not getting a bunt down.

Been quite the pitching duel tonight, hopefully the pen can hold this one for Harden.

Marmol looked great that inning, his slider to Patterson was just nasty.

Brewers and Cards both lost, Cubs lead over the Brew Crew now at 6 games, 8 1/2 over the Cards.

Without doing reserach, gotta believe the last time the Cubs were 6 games in first probably was 1989, maybe back to '84.

That's right-City of Fools, thats my job!!! I actually will be in Cincy for the games on the 6th and 7th as well. I am taking my Son there, as well as playing some golf on Saturday morning in the area- before the Saturday night game. I'm planning on staying at the Westin Cinncinatti, which is a short walk from the ballpark there, if you have not already secured a Hotel, it's a nice one and very convenient to the park.

We were at tonights game also and what a great game. Harden was great, that catch that Fukadome made in Right -center, was terriffic. Nice to see him get a hit in the 8th to knock in a couple runs too. Only complaint would be that Ramirez did not get the run in, in the 5th-I think it was the 5th inning-when he had a runner on 3rd with only 1 out and struck out. That run never scored. But he made up for it, with the double in the 8th. Great job by both Marmol and Wood tonight. Hard to believe it, but the Cubs can run their record to 30 over .500 with a win tomorrow.

I have been as giddy about this team as Mully's aunt. But they lose too many low scoring games to bad teams. If they don't score big, they don't win.
This pattern does not bode well for the postseason, when they will face good teams with good pitching.
I don't like it, nope, I don't like it at all.

EDIT: I mean it's fucking Bronson Arroyo and these cocksuckers can't score on him for Christ's sake.

In all seriousness, I am concerned about the Cubs inability to win low scoring games against good or bad teams.
I mean, only one run against the Reds and Bronson Arroyo? Makes me sick to my stomach. Lilly deserved better.

That was a lousy game. Other than Derosa and Lilly, no one else showed up.

Lack of hustle on Soriano's part cost the Cubs one run. Fukodome and Soto couldn't drive in a man on third and less than two outs. The Fukodome at bat was really bad a ground ball gets the run in.

Even Lou made a mistake in my opinion. Third inning Soriano on second and Lee on first, 3-2 count on Ramirez and the runners did not move, Ramirez ends up hitting into a DP. Arroyo wasn't missing many at bats early on, I was shocked the runners weren't moving.

Hopefully the Cubs get out of their offensive slump tomorrow. In the last 4 games you have the 8 run inning on Sunday and the 4 run inning yesterday and basically thats it.
