Justin Morneau won the MVP in 2006, for the Twins. Not exactly a team that gets a lot of national pub.

You hate meatballs, but you are one. Football is killing you, and your lack of baseball knowledge is killing us.

You make no sense, Chris. I don't think writers say "Hmmm. Let me look at their attendence and determine if I want to follow that team or those players."

It's just stupid thinking.

Sox have decent attendence. I'll be honest, certain games I thought they should have drawn better.

I'm part of the reason. I watch just about every game but I only go to 2 or 3 a year.

Your lack of common sense is killing me. First A Rod won last year. Second its one not won. As in you hate meatballs but you are one. Use your head and think about what your going to say and than try and talk shit you iggnorant fuck. And how has anything I said been wrong? Its just my feelings that he wont win it because the team gets no pub. Is that a fact, no, but again you probably think Im stating facts. The facts I gave you were the attendance and ratings, which Im not sure you can read, but I dont give a shit. Those are facts. Frank Coztansa has no social life and posts requests on here to have any random stranger meet him for the Sox game, thats a fact. viewtopic.php?f=82&t=21849

Attendance has nothing to do with who wins the MVP! The writers tend to go with a guy whose body of work has meant the most to his team, and oh by the way, Quentin just homered for the 35th time this season in a 13-5 Sox lead over the M's in the bottom 8th, complete with chants for MVP! 8)

I see Frank read his post real quick and saw how stupid he looked and changed it all around. Nice work but not quick enough.

You dont get what Im saying and never will. Im not going to continue this discussion because its a stupid fight anyways and I dont really give a shit that much. I was trying to make a point in that the lack of attention the white sox get will hurt Carlos' chance at the MVP. Thats all.

I can't help it that ESPN, FOX & TBS are infatuated with the stupid Yankees & Red Sox! The "experts" should look at the body of work for Quentin and look at Hamilton w/the Rangers...The writers tend to go with a player FROM A WINNING, CONTENDING TEAM!!!

Like I said, if Hamilton wins it, it will be because he was on "crack". I said that before you posted, Chris. So we agree. Not cuz the Sox aren't popular. That is was your initial post was about. "Sox popularity". That's what I was arguing against. Not in this case. That's all.

Gotta beg to differ on the idea that the A.L. MVP is only between Quentin and Hamilton. True, those two are definitely major figures in that race, but I would have to include Justin Morneau with his .305 batting average and 96 RBI (same as Quentin) in the equation. I would also include Kevin Youkilis, with a .317 batting average, 23 HR's and 84 RBI and .572 slugging pct. With 6 weeks left, a lot of things can still happen including a shift in where teams finish the season, as well as the individual numbers. In a year where guys like Quentin, Morneau and Youkilis all have a shot at getting their teams into a playoff spot, the way each plays from here on, will factor in big time. Normally I would have to agree, that Hamilton's team not being in contention, would make it harder for him to win the award. But the way the press drooled all over him at the Home Run Derby and All Star game, he may be a sentimental favorite.

You're right about Morneau. Dolphin mentioned him too. Shame on me for not saying he's in this race. But that's it. It's a 3 man race.

Youkilis isn't in the race. He has fine numbers. Good player. But it's between Morneau, Quentin and Hamilton. Quentin has 12 more RBI and 12 more HR than Youkilis.

Actually, I think Hamilton is 3rd now. Quentin is 1st. Morneau is 2nd. That's my vote.

Good. Maybe the writers will be smarter than I give them credit. It's not the most important thing. I want to win a World Series. But Quentin just deserves it. I'd like to see him get it.

Yes, I know. 6 weeks left. Here you go. If the Twins win the division then Morneau should get it. If the Sox win the division then Quentin gets it. See, I'm not biased.

It's safe to say these guys will play well if their teams make it. Can't do it if they don't. One of these teams could make the Wild Card. But I'll still say give it to the guy that wins the division.

That being said I think the writers will give it to Quentin over Morneau. I know their RBIs are even. But Quentin has 16 more HR then Morneau. Writers will look at that and give it to Quentin if the RBIs are close to each other.

They just will cuz that just jumps out at you. I'm not saying it's right. RBIs is all that matters. Morneau gets a lot without homers. He only has 19 HR this year. He and Quentin both have 95 RBI.

You and I both know what he has been doing for the Sox but not everyone proabably does. He isnt a story right now, because of the team he plays for. Like I said before (many times)if he was playing this type of ball on a top 5 al team he would be the toast of the league. The sox arent a top five al team in terms of popularity and relivance to the baseball writers that vote on this thing. They will go after the story not the numbers on this, because its not great A-Rod type numbers

I agree Chris. If Quentin were putting up the same numbers in Boston or New York, people would be ready to send him to Cooperstown already.

I think you could say the same about Josh as well if he sported a more high profile uniform than the blue of the Texas Rangers...

I meant to bump this up last week when the AL MVP was in the news for breaking his wrist on his own bat. Smart move. That might take away votes.

Absolutely, Chris. Goes without saying. Jusin Morneau is the MVP. It's an easy vote now.

We're talking baseball's MVP, not Bristol's.
