Counting Jerry's money and drinking.

It must be nice to be a major market team like San Diego...

Padres are what White Sox should have been.

Kopech and Zach Collins would've probably been 2 main pieces.

I was hoping the Cubs could convince the Padres to take Darvish for four prospects and taking on Wil Myers' contract to play LF/1B.

Mejia is kinda meh defensively and probably eventually a 1B/DH, and the kid they got who pitched in the bullpen last year would normally have been at AA. The two younger prospects look solid, for prospects, and fit Tampa's MO of a balanced pipeline. I look forward to seeing them in Durham later this year or early next year.

Snell is primarily a twice through the order guy, so I'm prejudiced against him as I'm old enough to still value guys who can routinely pitch into the 7th and 8th. But he is a good fit in that Padres rotation.

The Cubs would be the most logical landing place for unloading Myers' contract. They just came to turns with one of the Korean infielders, so Cronenworth will become a true utility guy in the Tony Phillips/Ben Zobrist mold. The Padres don't have infinite money so they could send Myers over and retain some salary.

Meanwhile, Darvish would command better prospects than Snell, especially if the Cubs took some salary back.
