Ill miss Caratini. The thing he had over Contreras : Baseball IQ.

Someone here posted this during the past season about Contreras that made perfect sense : You can't win with a dumb catcher.

I'm just sad that IMU is no longer here as laughing in his face would be one of the best things to do on a night like this.

He's at the 'other' site. That's why you had DenisDickhead come back and post a few days ago. They got tired over there listening to each other talk about their mortgages and retirement plans instead of sports.

I have ears and eyes everywhere my friend

Why are people surprised? You should be happy we dumped the majority of his contract. Yu isn't even a leader who can teach the young guys to win. The rebuild is on! Man up, Cubs fans!

PS: It's pathetic how Bernstein and Parkins slobber all over Theo's dick. He's like their sports Obama

Sustained investment in payroll and sustained excellence are 2 different things. The Cubs have been cursed with horrible player evaluation. Hopefully it will end now that Theo is gone. Bernstein now making Ricketts the villian. If Rickets is a villian it's that he gave Theo free reign and didn't override his franchise wrecking ball worst moves.

I have absolutely no problem with trading Darvish. The problem is none of these prospects address pitching.

I agree.

Only thing I can think of, which is somewhat depressing to entertain, is that not only is Ricketts intent on shedding payroll(clearly), but that he’s told Jed that he intends operating well below the luxury tax for the foreseeable future, so Jed is simply beginning the early stages of collecting as many assets as possible.

Unless these pieces are used to facilitate other moves, the fact they are teenagers says a lot about this teams competitive time horizon.

Winter is Coming...

I don't have a problem with them rebuilding and gutting this team. I just don't trust Hoyer to get the right assets. Now move Hendricks and Rizzo and KB. Howard will be ready in 2 years, I want a roster full of 25 and unders by then.

Why don't you trust Hoyer? They didn't call him Hoyer the Hillbilly for nothing.

Howard won't be ready in two years, except maybe for a Hoerner-like cup of coffee at the end of 2022 if he really rakes. He hasn't even played in High-A yet.

The challenge is going to be that the Reds, Brewers, and Pirates have all punted, so it's going to be difficult to get any top 8 draft picks without some active tanking. They are more likely going to spend 2021-2023 in the baseball equivalent of NBA hell, a lot of 78-84.

All Cub fans get angry at my threads and call me a troll, yet everything I say came to fruition. Bryant did, in fact, hold a grudge for manipulating free agency and wouldn't sign long term when they wanted him. The waves and waves of talent never really existed and their one anomalous seasons was fueled by a couple throw away trades that resulted in the acquired players having career years. The bumslayers feed on 40-60% of their division tanking in any given year. The Cubs have never been a real contender for anything and weren't even considered to be one in 2016.

remember when this cub centric media told us time and again about the multiple streams of revenue, as if any of them had the ability to scrutinize the financials? People like Bruce Levine pretending to know anything beyond what occurs on the field of play is comical. Bernstein heard a few business phrases he could use as a crutch because he had no idea what he was talking about.

Didn't hear it firsthand, but someone said Levine opined yesterday that this wasn't a salary dump but rather a "repurposing."

Not really. Particularly the tanking part.

- They made the NLCS three years in a row. That is a contender. Some teams in baseball have never even made the playoffs two years in a row.

-Bryant was never signing long term before free agency. He is a Boras client.

-The bum slaying was also debunked when you go back and look at division records between 2015-2020. I would like a list of divisions with 80 to 100% trying during the same time frame year after year.

-Jake was good for four years. Great for 2.5 of those.

-Could have been better, but most successful run in Chicago baseball in last 100 years.

I can only imagine the amount of saliva that sprung from Levine's mouth when he said the word repurposing. Two p and an s in one word is just cruel to him

The funny thing is Bryant being shorted on service time will actually help him financially. He will make more in year 7 then what he would of got in free agency coming off that dog shit year. Not how it was planned but how it will work out.
