My guess is that Nagy doesn't take advice. When things are going bad he retreats to his fortress of solitude wallpapered in previous game plans to seek advice from the football muses.

Trading a 4th round pick for Foles and giving him an extension should probably be enough to fire Pace.

Didn't they give Foles the opportunity to opt out after this year?

I think he will take that when the season is over.

No O line and salary cap hell awaits the next QB.

He would be giving up something like $13 million guaranteed over 2 seasons to do it, with an extra $3 million if he isn't cut after next season.

I think he would have to play better to make that somewhere else.

You would have to have more guts than I to intentionally become a free agent in any sport in the interim of the 20-21 seasons.

It seemed like Foles' contract was designed for him to be the starter in 21, hopefully with a drafted QB waiting in the wings.

The problem here is the man responsible for building the worst offense in the league is also responsible for building one of the best defenses in the league.

Absolutely correct.
What we saw in 2018 is that dominant #1 defense in the league was not enough to get past the first round of playoffs. It's been downhill since then. it was said when it happened and it still holds true....Pace banked his career on the (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky pick. He failed miserably.....(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was not anything close to Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer, or Andrew Luck where there was strong consensus he was the #1 pick. There were plenty of vocal critics. Pace totally reached, the pick turned out to be complete shit. As a result, he has to take the bullet.

I think he wants to play. And when Chase Fuckin Daniels gets $5M a year to hold a clipboard, and rarely play, then Foles knows that $13M is far from insurmountable.

I would think Dontari Poe would be an inexpensive signing who could make an impact in the run game

Is it realistic to think that maybe Nagy's offense is the problem and Pace is trying to give Nagy players to fit his offense?

The more I think about it the more I put the blame on Nagy's offense and play calling. T.Brady would be shit in this offense. The offensive line was brought in to fit Nagy's style of pass blocking west coast spread offense and can't run any power run plays. This offense does not work and Nagy is too stubborn to change it.

I'd fire Nagy and keep Pace.

The offensive line is pure trash.

There was not an emphasis to seriously upgrade it the past two offseasons.

We have no reports saying Pace tried to appease Nagy by signing Germain Ifedi.

Nagy’s play calling is also terrible.

Both of these things can be true at the same time.

Pace should get fired for going into the season with Montgomery, Cohen, and Patterson as his 3 running backs. None of those guys can succeed without a good offensive line.

No back eould look good getting hit behind the line or at the line 90% of the run plays. Goving Cohen the extension was really dumb too.

That was the Ted Thompson way, he just left McCarthy flailing in the wind.

A real concern is Pace spent a lot of time watching Utah and ND while scouting Kmet and Johnson, both those guys are inferior football players to their teammate who Pace overlooked. Claypool is a legit #1 star receiver.. Blackmon is a star safety. Now Johnson might be a decent CB but I don't see him ever being a star. Same goes for Kmet, he may be a decent TE but no star.

I actually think Kmet will be great if he gets somebody mildly capable of throwing the ball to him.

Johnson’s been great for a rookie CB. That draft pick gets nothing but an A+ grade so far

Pace and Nagy are building something together. Playoffs in 2 out of the first 3 years is pretty impressive
