That's the most important stat since the Ken Griffey Jr. trade was made, the win-loss record. Although Griffey has done very little at the plate since he came to the South side, it has given Ozzie a little more flexibility with the everyday lineup. As we have seen, Griffey has given Jermaine Dye a breather in right field & Jim Thome a rare day off as the everyday DH. Most thought that Griffey's addition would mean less playing time for Paul Konerko, but it has not been the case. The only times you see Brian Anderson and/or DeWayne Wise are late in games as pinch runners and as defensive replacement(s) in the 8th or 9th inning...

Technically, in a 5-0 game, the guy who gets the first RBI is credited with the "game winning RBI".

But who cares? Griffey does suck. He's just a singles hitter now and a .230 one at that.

He really hasn't hurt us. But he hasn't helped us.

I think his arrival motivated Swisher and Konerko. Griffey should sit the most of those three. They are all having weak years but Swisher and Konerko are more likely to get doubles and homers at this point.

"game-winning" RBI any run that put a team ahead for good is considered game winning.

I'd say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree but you may actually be dumber than your mom.

Recently he hasn't hurt on defense. But that's cuz the other team didn't hit it in a spot to expose him. That's all it is. Just lucky as of late. He can't cover ground that even Swisher can cover. Certainly can't cover the ground that Anderson can cover.

Sox have reached 72 wins. That was their win total last year.

Sox are 2-0, in Jose Contreras's spot, since his injury.

And the Bears won a ridiculous percentage of games started by Mike Tomczak. But did they win because of him? I don't think so....

In the 95/96 season the Bulls went 72-10 in games that Bill Wennington played in.

A statement was made that the Sox are a worse team with Griffey and that is wrong. I was simply pointing out the fact that this statement is wrong. It's irrelevent whether Griffey is the reason or not. As of today the Sox are not a worse team with Grifffey they are a better team.

Griffey or no Griffey, the starting pitching has been very very good since the trade deadline, and thats why they are winning a lot.

Gotta keep it up over the next month with the Twins on the road as much as they are.

They're 12-6. Fine, They would have been 13-5 had Griffey not misplayed a ball in center in Kansas City, and they almost lost the extra inning game against Detroit because of Griffey.

Post hoc ergo propter hoc is fallicious, my friend.

6-0 Sox after the 1st inning.

Another blow out win. Shitty team we're playing. But we're destroying them like we should.

Let's try and get 20 today boys.

Do you mean "fallacious", Delicious, or a mixture of both?

C'mon, IB. All that fancy latin and University of Chicago (Hyde Park?) legal education, and you cannot even use a real English word?

I'm sorry, the Urban Dictionary does have an entry for "fallicious":

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=fallicious

Jeez, you're on me for a typo?

The Twins are winning, I know you can't but I wish some of these runs can be saved. The end of this month with Boston and September will be no picnic!

20 games over .500. I've been waiting for the Sox to hit this all year. Good teams have to hit it. If we play .500 the rest of the year that will put us at 91 wins. 91-71. That won't be good enough. Gotta win 95 to get into the playoffs. That's what I think.

Twins 14 game road trip starts right now. They start with 4 against the Angels.

We get the Rays for 3. That ain't easy either but we've got to take 2 out of 3 from this good team at home. Don't have to. But I want to see that.

The road trip for Minnesota starts late tomorrow night in Anaheim, and if the Twins don't win the A.L. Central or the Wildcard for that matter, point the finger at John McCain and the GOP. Interestingly enough, I have heard that one of McCain's supporters happens to be White Sox Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf. Both are from Arizona, and we all know that the boss has a house out there near where the Sox train every spring...

Jerry plays both sides of the political fence. He only enters games he knows he will win.
