They are looking at Reynaldo Lopez as the fifth starter on opening day. I'm not comfortable with that. I think they dicked around the last few weeks and saw competent back end starters go off the board for 1 year deals at sub $10 million. That is an investment they absolutely should have been in on.

I am a little more comfortable with the DH situation. They seem to think Vaughn is ready so I have to have some trust in their scouting. I'd hate for him to be stuck in the minors if he was killing it down their because we overinvested for another Edwin Encarnacion type. Obviously they will play the game with him and he will not be here immidiately. I really do want to see what Collins can do as a hitter. He was very good when he was sent down and then good at the MLB level when he returned.

I would like to see Collins for a spot as well, but if you can sign Cruz think about what that does for he lineup. And you take his at bats away from the Twins.

Giolito, Lynn, Keuchel, Cease, Kopech is the likely rotation. Hopefully Lopez is a non factor as a regular starter.

Eaton in LF, Robert CF, Engel RF. Eloy should be the primary DH, with Grandal and Abreu getting starts there every so often.

Kopech should be back, the vaccine is here...I'm pretty sure he's quite familiar with needles.

Kopech hasn't pitched in two years and only had about 10 MLB innings before that. He is starting in the minors.

I'm now of the opinion you make a push for Rich Hill. He would work well to make the rotation out of spring training and then step aside when Kopech is ready.
