Team with good O lines, a good running game, and slightly above mediocre QB's can be competitive and even win a Super Bowl.

Why would Pace/Nagy tank mightily when they are clearly in a situation of win this next year or they are done? That makes no sense.

Hmmmm...continually finishing near the bottom of the league in offense, an aging defense...there is a very real possibility that the team will suck next year even with your guy Pace's best efforts.

I think you're missing RFDC's point. Pace can't afford to tank at this point in his tenure.

Pace is going to be allowed to participate in the search for QB #4. Amazing.

What can they realistically do with zero cap space? I know you can clear some space by cutting guys, but how do you go big?

Sign Winston to a 2 year deal and draft a QB in the 2nd.

will raiders actually spend almost $11M next year on their backup QB? they can cut him without a cap hit. i guess they spent close to 10 this year so it is plausible. we know pace loves giving draft captial to get qb's

Yeah I think it will be Carr and Mariota again. I think Gruden likes Mariota a lot and wants to keep him around.

They were "major players" last year and had player after player turn them down, or use them as leverage before finally overpaying for Foles.

Would a legit young QB come into a situation where the team is so backwards that it actually thinks not revealing the contract status of the GM makes them a more desirable destination?

The smart thing would have been to clean house and let new Team President/GM/Coach start to develop a roster, because Pace has shown absolutely nothing that makes you think he has the ability to identify QB talent.

invest in the OL this year and Foles will be no worse than any of the other bad possible moves they could make at the position

Let's see what the combine reveals. It wouldn't be shocking if a guy like Newman shot up draft boards

I know Pace and Nagy won’t think this way (yet another reason ties should have been cut) next season is most likely a wash ..but the future is QB, that’s what they need to draft now. This shouldn’t be about trying to make the most out of Foles. No 1st round linemen is going to change the outcome of this team enough to pass on the QB talent of this years draft in the 1st round.

You and some others here continue to see this wrong.

Not to speak for anybody else, but I don’t want them drafting a developmental QB because I have zero faith in Pace’s ability to evaluate the position. A bad 1st round draft pick at QB can set them back a few years; a bad veteran maybe helps out next draft.

Agreed, don't mortage the future for a 1st round QB by these two boobs who can't identify or develope the QB. Take an O lineman or WR with that pick. Both of these morons are getting fired in 350 days.

I’m not crazy about the circumstances involving who’s in charge either -but if they pick the right guy this is less of a problem. My point is, you don’t pass on a talented class for the reasons you mentioned.

You can get quality linemen in the 2nd and so on. Someone pointed out the other day KC’s entire unit is undrafted and mid-late round guys.

I think that is because 2 starters are hurt and going to miss the SB and I believe another guy opted out for covid pre season.

Two off linemen opted out and Mitchell schwartz probably wont play..he was 37th overall. Niang was a 3rd rounder..their other opt out was a 6th rounder. Fisher was 1st overall in 1st round.

Would you pass on Trevor Lawrence if they had a shot at him simply because of who the coach and GM are?

Picking 1st is a no brainer, even these chumps couldn't fuck that up. They are picking 23rd I believe.

The combine was cancelled a week ago so teams are going to have to rely on whatever pro day/private workout system they come up with. If I was a Bears fan I would be worried they're going to use their first rounder on a guy like Jones or Trask who some evaluators like Zierlein gave 3rd round grades. The next regime would then be stuck with a 1st round QB that isn't the answer. If Trey Lance was still there it would be different because the ceiling is so high he'd be worth the gamble.

Lance will be gone quick, before Fields Id say. I don't want Trask or Jones..unless it's in the 3rd round.

Trevor and Fields are going 1 and 2. The draft starts at 3 this year.

If the Bears had to pay 2 or 3 times more than other clubs to get Stafford would you do it? Something stupid like a #1 and #2 this year and a #1 next year. I've heard people expect the Lions to get one first round pick for him.
