Well, in the end it really depends. We've certainly seen lots of examples where the house appreciated faster than the market did over time. Of course, you have to be able to sell it to see it. In my case, being the "jerk who cashed out the family farm" weighs heavily on my spirit, even if it is something only I think about. Not that any of the cousins who could be bitching are rushing in to help with the upkeep, of course.

Getting to the point of downsizing our empty nest and pocketing a few hundred K$ and getting to a much-reduced maintenance level sure is attractive, but I'm sure my wife doesn't want me under foot all the time (or, at all) and I'd go crazy without something to work on...

52 years ago today, left Port Kembla, Oz for Capetown, Dakar and Dunkirk. I was a dekksgutt on this Norwegian freighter. A Wilhelm Wilhelmsen 6000 ton ship.

3rd watch, 4 nrs on/8 hrs off. Was helmsman every night for 2 hours on the 2000-2400 shift.

3 months of this adventure. I made $28 USD per week after tax and union fees.

my wife reached out to her best friend growing up. She was in our wedding. they moved to Montana and my wife and her lost touch outside of a few emails and brief phone calls here or there. She married one of their other close childhood friends and have 3 or 4 kids.

They got a divorce apparently a few months back. The husband (who i've always thought was a dope) has a live in gf now and my wifes friend has a new bf who she told my wife is WAY BETTER LOOKING than her ex. So all in all its a disaster.

Why is this in this thread? WELL....this has happened from time to time (my wifes friends getting divorces) and it usually means i'm having sexy time tonight and it usually means its GONNA BE GOOD.
