Lou is having a meeting today with Fukudome. He is just not getting it done.

In a related issue, Felix Pie is batting .287 at AAA, with Over .400 in July and .319 in August to date, with a 1 for his last 10.

Impressive when you look at the end of May he was at .156.

The 5th OF on this team right now is listed as D Ward. I think he saved his job with the 3 run pinch hit HR.

DeRosa is really the 5th OF, but he is listed as IF.

If Politics, Money and contracts influence this roster, I see Ronny Cedeno losing a spot and Pie being called up. Or at the very least Fukudome losing his starting position.

Aug 31, gotta be here to be on the 25 man for the playoffs, unless a sudden case of Krause Tendintis comes up.

Since mid June or so, Fukudome has been terrible.

He has been terrible at the plate, but his defense remains solid. Hopefully a day or two off will get him swinging the bat better down the stretch and into the playoffs.

Def a nice homer there. It was nice to see the reception he recieved in the dugout after that, you can really tell the team loves him and they want him to get back on track as much as anyone.

I noticed how the team all seemed happier than usual about his homer. I think you are right, the rest of the team seems to be really pulling for him. He's an easy guy to root for, with the way he plays defense and tends to generally play the game the way its supposed to be played. I hope the session has really helped and we will see him contributing regularly again.

I have faith in Lou and Gerald Perry in that they know hitting mechanics and I think they will make some adjustments to Fuku's swing.

I wouldn't be surprised if Fuku, after a few adjustments, hits well in September.

After the pinch-hit Homer yesterday, Fuku hits a sac fly to get them on the board tonight. Didn't miss another homer by much either. The extra work may be paying off.

He has clearly worked out all of his issues, and is now back in early-season form. He will make a late-season run for rookie of the year. Just having him in the lineup has made the entire lineup much better hitters.

Have to agree Beardown. Soto has it in his hip pocket. But if Fukadome does well this final 5 weeks, he could be the runner-up. Going 1-2 in the ROY would be sweet....

Fuku is a "rookie" here, but has been playing professional ball for sometime. Catcher is much harder and more demanding than RF too. Soto has better numbers at the harder position. Fuckudome can hit 30 Hrs from now til the end of the year and Soto would still win ROY-- and he deserves to.

I am certainly hoping for more lasting success for Soto and Fukadome. But that was a good year and both looked like they had bright futures. I think Walton had something like a 30 game hit streak that year, and played a very nice centerfield, had some stolen bases. Smith hit very well too, though he was not the defensive player Walton was, nor had the speed. Soto looks like a guy with a great future, assuming he stays healthy. Fukudome is such a solid fundamental player that even when his bat is not going, he does so many things that help the team that he's valuable. But it sure is nice to see him hitting again. Gerald Perry and Lou must have helped. He looks like he's back on track. Next years ROY Micah Hofpauir!!!

Right now Joey Votto would probably come 2nd. His numbers are better than Fuku's pretty much across the board.

Where the devil would he play? He'd have to be traded to end up a ROY.

He can give Soriano a day off each week in Left, give Fukudome a day off per week in Right and Lee a day off each week at first. The other days he can be the chief pinch hitter. Even with limited at bats, he wins the award as he is such a superior talent. Seriously, he may well be traded, for the exact reason you bring up-unless there is an injury or Fukadome were to be moved to center, there just is no spot open. But I do see him being a real contributor in September and he may have a good deal of trade value in the off-season. I would hate to lose him though. I think he has a load of talent. I had been thinking, quite frankly, that he might be taking over as the starter in Right next year, if Fukadome was not able to get his act together.

Retard-I'm just saying that its nice to see some contributions from him again and that it would appear as if Perry and Lou's work with him is having a positive effect.

Dude, Micah Hoffpauir is not a superior talent. He's a career minor leaguer who has been swinging a hot bat in Iowa recently. I hope he contributes down the stretch, but let's not get carried away.

Dude-Micah Hoffpauir has a .365 batting average with 25 Home runs and 99 RBI as well as a slugging pct. of .754. All in just 285 at bats!!!!!!!! Then you consider that while he was up with the Cubs, he hit .378 !!! I believe he is going to be a very good player at the big league level. The numbers suggest the same.

When Hoffpauir hits the crap out of the ball starting again this coming week, after he gets called up, do not be surprised if he winds up getting the playoff spot that most might assume Daryl Ward will get. 285 at bats yet he gets 25 homers and 99 RBI, thats unreal. Plus, he was very good earlier in the season (.378) when he was in the majors. This guy has ability. The numbers back up the opinion.
