Yes. It sucks that they are both away games and Drake is deadly at home but home doesn't have the same impact this year.

Loyola plays lock down D, which, as the saying goes, travels.

Both teams have been pounding the competition by double digits. I don't think the MVC is bad. Both of these teams are just outstanding.

Huge games this weekend at Drake. Teams are tied now. If they can split, they win a share of their 4th straight regular season title. They have shit the bed in the last two MVC tourneys and not returned to the NCAA since the Final Four.

I think they are in if they win the regular season. I'm not sure though because the CBS guy has them as a 12th seed, even with great rankings across the board.

They got jobbed on the road in a conference game. It happens.

Drake bitched about their center getting 4 fouls early in the second half on Saturday and the officials decided to swallow their whistles on Sunday.

A road back to back against the co leader in the conference who was ranked last week was a setup for Loyola to get swept. They dominated on Saturday and then lost by 1 on Sunday in OT. I didn't like HOW they lost but its not terrible.

for those Loyola fans who fear losing Porter Moser, I refer them to his play calling at the end of regulation and OT. He's done the same thing in the conference tournament the last two years as well.

moved up to #21 with two chip shot games against the Salukis to close out the regular season. Should do no worse than league co champion, although I think Drake wins the #1 seed in the tournament on some extended tie breaker.

But isn't he the guy who is responsible for reviving the program? Can they get a decent coach to replace him? They suffered through a string of losers prior to the Moser era.

Poor man's Bill Self. Took him a long time to learn how to coach. In the meantime, recruit and find a way to the Big East.

I think they can. The program is an entirely better place than it was a decade ago. The facilities are simply fantastic for that level of program. The stadium no longer looks like a high school. The campus is now interested and they actually sell out games in the community. They won some recruiting wars for players. And, of course, they have solidified themselves as a conference power. A new coach is coming in with a lot of head wind. It would be a great place for a young guy to bring to the level where they are making the NCAA tournament every year, even as an at large.

that also doesn't include that the lakeshore campus is really fantastic now. I don't know why Loyola hasn't jumped to a more national school in a manner like Fordham, for instance.

Bradley upset a heavily depleted Drake and Loyola win the regular season of the MVC for the third time in four years. They get the #1 seed for the tournament this weekend.

Drake is down their top scorer and point guard. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't make it to the championship game

I haven't seen them any higher than an 8 right now. I'm hoping for a 6. If not a 6, 12 would be just fine as the 5 they play will be beatable. I just don't want them facing a 1 or 2 in the second round.

Ramblers play their first game in the MVC Tournament today at 11. They get SIU for a third time in a row. SIU won a play in game against Bradley.

Ramblers should win but this is trickier than a first round game should be as Mullins assisted at Loyola and know their system well. Spread is 15. I don't think they win by that amount.

24 point win. They should win fairly easily tomorrow whoever they play. I really don't see them sweating too much in this tournament with Drake as injured as they are.

That level of defensive intensity will play against anyone.

I hope they pushed themselves up to a 6 seed. Three double digit wins in conference tournament play is pretty impressive.

I wasn't sure Drake was a tourney team with all of their injuries. I don't doubt now that they are in the top 64 in the country. They would be fully capable of winning a game as well.

How will they do against a team with size? Krutwig may not be 6-11, but he's a big body and it amazes me how well he knows how to play. He's got a few moves offensively, too.

They play defense like some Big Ten teams.

Some of the guards have to pull the trigger on those jumpers, though. Coach draws up some weird plays that go nowhere.

Should be fun.
