I just saw a replay of his interview with Jim Nantz last weekend. He was on something—droopy eyed, giggly, and stumbling over some of his words. They are cutting him a celebrity break by not drawing his blood for testing.

Did they really say no blood draw? I heard no apparent impairment that cops said. That doesn’t rule out they drew in hospital and the hospital itself would certainly check his system before surgery.

That’s exactly what the bilingual cop said at the press conference.

Tiger's days as a full/part time player are likely over. I'm sure he might be able to give it a go here and there (Masters, PNC Father Son, charity events, maybe a Champions tour event), but between the back and now the leg I don't see any way how a 45 year old guy recovers enough to be out there for 20+ tournaments a year.

For those who might not be able to see that tweet;
Quote:
"Mr. Woods suffered significant orthopaedic injuries to his lower right extremity that were treated during emergency surgery," Dr. Anish Mahajan, chief medical officer at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, said in a statement that was posted on Woods' Twitter account.

"Open fractures (where the bone actually protrudes from the skin) affecting both the upper and lower portions of the tibia and fibula bones were stabilized by inserting a rod into the tibia," he added. "Additional injuries to the bones of the foot and ankle were stabilized with a combination of screws and pins. Trauma to the muscle and soft-tissue of the leg required surgical release of the covering of the muscles to relieve pressure due to swelling."
A statement on Woods' Twitter account said he was awake and responsive after a "long surgical procedure."

  Even though I'm not a fan, I respect the greatness and what he did for the game of golf. Not just the PGA Tour, but he helped grown the game across the globe.

Its a shame it likely won't get to go out on his own terms.

You might get your wish, Frank, but you should probably familiarize yourself with Ben Hogan's story.

Coffee?

He was speeding down a winding road known for accidents and running late. If he was texting or on the phone at all, that could have been an issue as well. So far, it doesn't look like anything more than just a random accident. I'm a little surprised TBH.

Hogan was nearly ten years younger than Tiger currently is, and didn't have the previous health issues that Tiger has gone through.

No signs of braking/skid marks is the part I find odd. At some point, especially w/anti-lock brakes, I would expect his instincts to kick in and start scrubbing off speed.

Yeah, to me that takes care of the old dropped the phone or was texting question. If you are any part awake, you are tapping on the breaks at some point.

 That would be the glass is 1/2 empty point of view. You conveniently left out advancements in care/medicine since 1948.

So you think Tiger will return to be a full/part time player on tour?

Even with the advancements in medicine, he is what, probably a year away from playing golf at this point? And if there are any infections or complications like Alex Smith had, who knows what might happen.

And Hogan's accident was in '49. I saw the Golf Channel documentary on him probably 3 or 4 times this summer. So much for me not knowing about ol' Ben.

Watching does not mean paying attention, Frank. It's eerily similar to Tiger's situation. Look, It's way too early to say anything - your wife works in healthcare - you should know this. It's okay to passive-agressively dance on his grave. Just cop to it, that's all.

Not really. You said I was dancing on his grave. I asked you to show me where I did this.

I hardly think saying, "I don't see any way how a 45 year old guy," with serious back and leg issues, "recovers enough to be out there" on a full time basis is grave dancing in any way, shape, or form.

It's your overall vibe here combined with your clear disdain for him, Frank.

Way too early too declare him "done", but you're more than happy to do so.

Doesn't your wife work in a surgical ward?

You should know better.

I said his days as a full time player are likely over. I did not declare him done. I even went so far as to say I expect him to play in future Major golf tournaments, and said how much for a force he was being growing the game of golf all over the planet. Wow, what a negative vibe! What grave dancing!

C'mon now. Reply to the post, and not the poster.

Yes, she works in a surgical ward. She has been in open fracture cases. They are serious and traumatic injuries. When I text her this morning that Tiger had two open fractures, her exact reply was, "he will be lucky to play golf again."
