Listening to Larussa today makes it sound like Vaughn will get some looks in the OF

they will ruin this kid too - he's going to get hurt just like Eloy

So I still don't think the Cubs made the right deal in unloading Eloy instead of Schwarber, but if they had kept both of them, one would have had to play RF. That would have been frightening.

Does Nick Williams or Billy Hamilton make the 25 man now to be the 5th OF? Hamilton is the better defender, but none of the other OF really need a defensive caddy so his only role would be to pinch run for Abreu late in close games.

I just hope they don't decide to do something stupid like try to give Vaughn games in LF so Grandal can stay in the lineup when he isn't catching.

Can you imagine Eloy running into a brick wall at Wrigley? He'd kill himself. Best thing the cubs could do for Eloy was to trade him.

Exactly.

Hug the line and let Robert chase everything.

Hopefully Vaughn wally pipps him and Eloy goes to where we all knew he'd end up...DHing. But now he can't complain about it. We saved the playoffs and next year from a left field manned by a a dork.

That's a good defensive outfield, but it means that Robert and Vaughn are going to have to hit. There's going to be little room for a rookie or sophomore slump.

Yep. They went from a potentially great offense to a likely very good one, and from an average defensive outfield to a very good one. If pitching lives up to the pre-season hype then they should weather this ok. Hopefully they make it into the playoffs and Eloy becomes the equivalent of a great late season acquisition.

Given that I fully expect .280+ and 20+ bombs from Lou Bob, I haven't lost much faith. Plus more shine time for Vaughn is a hidden plus.

Sox will be a good exciting team on paper. But, the games still have to be played on the field. Guys will have career best, and worst years. Too early to be talking world series.

Im not talking WS, they need another starter, an ace or great #2. They should win score alot of runs and win 90.

Upset at thread continuity, Cubs fans in Sox section, insulting posters, posting 85,000 times. Might be time for serious self examination. This board shouldn't be your whole life.

I feel the worse for LaRussa. But he's smart enough to manage thru this. Just how stupid the injury was is what gets me.

I read on the whitesox reddit page that they're saying even if eloy comes back, he won't have the same power. that this injury takes a good 8-9 mo for a player to fully recover.
