My spoiler is done being painted at the body shop.

Backstory, a couple weeks ago, in the car wash, the OEM one got ripped off (got the joy of watching it get ripped off too). Being that the car is from Australia, you can't just walk in to the parts department and order one. Well you can, it's just a backordered part and uber expensive. So I found a body kit company that makes them in the land down under, a simpler one-piece setup that won't rip off like the two-piece OEM one. Ordered it, and got it sent here (shipping was as much as the spoiler), then dropped it off at the body shop last Thursday.

The owner of the body shop texts me yesterday that it's done.

I is happy...

Pontiac G8 GT. GM brought them here in 2008 - 2009 From their subsidiary in Australia, Holden. The next generation of the car lived on from 2014 - 2017 as the Chevrolet SS.

:lol: Well Played...

Funny thing is, they do make a Police "V8 Interceptor" version of the G8 (VE Platform)/SS (VF Platform), which were also imported... You see around the area as the Chevy Caprice. ISP uses them as do some local municipalities (West Chicago does). It is an extended wheelbase version dubbed the WM or WN platform depending on the year to go in synch with the VE/VF.

The G8 GTs were nice.

A few years ago, on the way to work, I used to sometimes see a guy on Golf Rd. who had a Chevrolet SS that was rebadged as a Holden Commodore.

That's actually a pretty popular thing in our local Holden group (I also have one of the first GTO's sent to the states in late 2003). I almost picked up a 2016 Slipstream Blue SS that had the exterior all converted to Holden badging last year, but in order to do that, I would've had to give up my Caddy V-series for it, otherwise Wifey wasn't having ANY of it, and I wasn't really ready to give it up, especially since the dealer and I couldn't come to an agreement.

It was at a Land Rover dealership in Detroit;

That's pretty sweet, I love that blue.

I've got a coworker with a CTS-V coupe, we have used it to make the run to Comiskey for Sox games. You can make good time on the SkyWay with it. I'm just not a fan of black vehicles.

I thought that was Vauxhall logo as I saw those in London quite a bit. But that logo slightly different. They were both GM products.

I am trying to recall, but I think when they brought back the GTO is was on a Holden platform. Of course, all that stuff got wiped when GM shrunk its badges. As a big Pontiac guy back in the day, it was sad. I had three different GTP’s.

What is sad, is as a final hurrah down under before GM shuttered Holden, Holden's performance division, HSV sold versions of the Commodore, Maloo, and Ute, with the LSA engine from that generation CTS-V (and Camaro ZL1). We didn't get it here though. :( That doesn't stop guys here from doing LSA top swaps and even complete LSA engine installs.

They are related in platform geneology. Opel/Vauxhall is the core of the platform architecture that Holden took and used for it's cars.

Here is the latest generations in successtion;
VZ = Holden Monaro, which came to the states 2004 - 2006 as the Pontiac GTO
VE = Holden Commodore, which came here as the 2008 - 2009.5 Pontiac G8
VF = Holden Commodore, which came here as the 2014 - 2017 Chevrolet SS

As I mentioned earlier, there is also an extended wheelbase version, which is the Holden Statesman down under and here as the Chevrolet Caprice. WM versions were the extended VE platform and the WN were the extended version of the VF platform.

Lots of 3800 love here too. Had many of those, including a GTP also.

I still get mad that they killed Pontiac rather than Buick or some other crap.

Many of us feel this way. But Buick's sell like hotcakes in China and that's what matters.

But Buick to has had many awesome cars too, once you push aside the Grandma cruisers.

A current hot little Buick (one I keep eyes on for a nicely priced, yet still cheap) Buick is the last (5th gen) Buick Regal GS. It is based on GM's Epsilon platform, that Opel more or less uses. So there is a somewhat close link to the above Zeta platformed cars. 2.0L turbo 4, manual trans option, Brembo brakes, 20" forged wheels, it was a nice little scoot. It's only real downfall is that it is wrong wheel drive.

Obviously, a Chevelle, Cutlass, LeMans and Skylark in their highest form were all awesome.

Yup, the GSX's (GSX and GSX Stage 1) with the 455 SD. But also don't forget the 80's Turbo regals which culminated with the '87 GNX. Even the Grand Prix GTP's Buick clone, Regal GS came with the same L67 supercharged V6.

I loved my Pontiac but it was a very low margin brand for them because of who buys Pontiacs and the competition in that section of the market.

We had a rich kid on our hall in college who was Australian who had his holden shipped to the states. this was during the fart canon fast and furious phase. it was one made truly by Opel i think.

i remember after we graduated he bought a GTO brand new and I still believe to this day has a G8 that is like 600+HP.

I might know him.

Myself and two or three others, started a local Holden group, so again, I probably know him from our get-togethers and other local group activities.

Until the turbo blew. With all the struggles they had early, I was surprised that they lasted so long in production.
