Big Z should take care of business tomorrow against Drew Hall, er, I mean Jamie Moyer.

Its possible. But he went winless last year in August. What was the reason for that? I think he just has a period in the season where he has a tired arm. If they are able to give him some extra time off before the playoffs, I think you will see the dominant pitcher we have seen many times before, in Big Z.

I thought the problem was more of an emotional issue. He was either too amped up -- after hitting a homer -- or ticked off -- with a play in the field -- that he lost his concentration. I don't remember last year's issue having to do with a decrease in his velocity.
I just hope that it has something to do with his diet, because that is something that can be easier to correct -- then let's say surgery.
Maybe this will fall by the wayside like my comments leading into the Pirates series.

This game fucking sucked. These guys fucking blow. They'll lose tomorrow and they'll split a series that they should have won. They had so many chances to blow this game wide open and instead they just blew.

Fuck these assholes.

Mr. Reason had the night off.

If you read the original post for this series, I pretty much predicted a loss in game 3, based on Myers recent hot streak (with 16 scoreless innings going into the game and a 6-3 record -now 7-3, against the Cubs, with a sub 3 ERA). But with Z going against Jaime Moyer, they should have a good chance to take 3 of 4 and continue the streak of series victories to 10. Winning 3 of 4 against a quality opponant like the Phillies is pretty sweet. I think Z will have a good start tomorrow. Despite recent struggles, I think he's gonna step up in this one.

Looks like Marshall today instead of Zambrano.
Scratched for a "tired arm".
Must have had that free block of spice channel last night.

I wish Lou would put more lefthanded hitters in against these soft tossing lefties. That would take away their changeup.
I have bitched about this since last year. Moyer can't bust a grape, why not have Edmonds and Fontenot in the lineup?
I have never understood this strategy. I understand against a hard-throwing lefty, but not a Hammels or a Moyer type.

Thanks for filling in last night, Zack.

Nothing interesting yet, Colonel. But she is hot, for a woman of my age.

I am amazed everytime I see Moyer pitch. It seems like it was 30 years ago that he pitched for the Cubs.

It blows my mind how helpless the cubs hitters are against Moyer. Shit, the called-third-strike has even carried over from yesterday's shitty effort. Shitty, shitty, shitty. The fucker throws slow, fellas, adapt. It's kinda sad when you only manage to scratch twice against a guy who throws 82, and one of the RBI's came from your starting pitcher.

Oh, and note to Cubs pitchers: Werth is on fire. Probably best not to put it over the middle of the plate every goddamn time he comes up.

Well, that was nice. Took all of 7 pitches to strike out Lee and Ramirez.

Should have done more today. Too many guys left on base. Tomorrow they got the 'stros, so we'll see how that goes. We got Marquis vs Oswalt, Dempster vs Backe, and Harden vs Wolf at Wrigley. Not feeling good about tomorrow's match-up, with Oswalt's 12-9 record, but we'll see.

By the way, every time I hear Soriano referred to as "Sori," I think of this; particularly when he looks so "Sori" at the plate like he did today.

Well, that ends the consecutive series won streak at 9. They split the series, so I guess it still can be said that they have gone 10 series in a row without dropping one. But after winning the first 2 thats nothing to celebrate. Actually, after Marshall got touched for 3 in the first inning, the pitching was pretty decent against a tough hitting team. But when I heard it was going to be Marshall rather than Zambrano, I figured things might not go so well. Unreal how poorly they hit against Moyer. But the Phillies are a very good team and splitting when they had to employ a spot starter in the series is no big deal. Better to get Zambrano in peak form for the playoffs. Thats more important than 1 game at the end of August.

However, the Cubs do still have a consecutive streak of non-losing series!

I just hope this solves Z's problems. What about Harden?
