Wow. This is terrible. I hope his draft stock plummets, preferably all the way to 20.

Mac Jones has reportedly been significantly outplaying Cam Newton in the Patriots' offseason practices for the past couple of weeks. Coaches are deliberately trying to rattle and confuse him, and he is apparently handling everything they are throwing at him.

Good. The NFL is more compelling when there is great QB play. And the league is improved when storylines like the Pats, as with Brady/Bucs last year, are in the news.

Well, Cam Newton isn't good any more.

But yeah, the Bears clearly are going to have another Mahomes situation on their hands because that is how it works.

Of course. But there's no reason to get upset about it. If Mahomes had been drafted by the Bears he wouldn't be the Mahomes he is now. That's just the way it is.

I was hearing the opposite as recently as 15 minutes ago on ESPN. But frankly it all sounds like Greenberg when he was the Bears beat reporter at training camp. So I'm really not taking it seriously.

I know this isn't really a debate for this thread, but I don't think there is any question that Mahomes as developed different under Andy Reid than he would Have under John Fox and Matt Nagy.

Who's bitching? Justin Fields is going to be an elite quarterback....assuming he stays healthy.

I'm not so sure about that. Players on the Chiefs say Mahomes was really good from the moment he set foot on the practice field in his rookie season. Did Reid coach Mahomes to greatness or did he simply pick a great player?

Is there an example of a guy who was great because he was coached up? Maybe Favre? Can't really think of anyone else.

Mahomes is my favorite player not named Tom Brady, but I seriously doubt that he would have developed as quickly with the 2017 Chicago Bears roster and Dowell Loggains. That Chiefs roster and coaching staff hid his flaws and put him in position to compete for 2nd greatest quarterback of all time.

Look at this crap.

You can't really hide that arm though, Mahomet is always looking deep.

Mac Jones is better than I thought but he will never be great, weak ass arm, no mobility. Hes good enough to be the 20th best QB every year and lose in the playoffs.

Knowing what we know about Jones and Fields after one year, who would you choose going forward?

I feel better about Mac Jones being an NFL starting quarterback. I'm unsure about his ceiling. I'm less confident about Fields being a starting quarterback, however, he has a top 5 ceiling. I would probably take the safer bet because I'm a Bears fan.

Interesting. I’m not saying right or wrong, I just find it interesting that the faith in fields hasn’t shaken it appears. Jones looked pretty good, not great but definitely workable.
