That's the right attitude. Let the wife do her thing. They are basically pets.

There isn't enough of the fleece to pay for the shearing to be honest. Same for a lot of the back yard sheep people unless you have 50 head that are merino or at least suit quality wool. I can't remember what our shearer said about alpacas but he hated shearing llamas.
At least with sheep you get lamb chops.

the farm that we will be buying them from said it would be about 100 a head to have a shearer come out and do it once a year. if we brought them to her each year when the shearer was out, it would only cost 50 bucks a head

i watched a video of this and 100 bucks a head is worth it, i'd rather pay 50 but whatever.

What do you do with the coat once sheered? Are you making winter jackets?

my wife has made probably 15 pairs of socks, about half a dozen sweaters, and a bunch of other miscellaneous stuff. all gifts. one of her best friends did send her a hundred bucks but IMO she made like 5 dollars an hour on that sweater. but pittmike understands.

My wife can't boil water without setting the kitchen on fire.

I have an alpaca sweater and a hat. Outstandingly soft and doesn’t stink at all. It’s a fantastic textile material but they don’t make a lot per year per animal.

Tell ya what Seacrest, let's stick to our specialties here. I'll tell people what I've seen in my line of work repairing equipment years after the sales rep can't even remember what town he installed the units in. I'll work this thread.
When a thread comes up about how to have shit customer service, how to rip off customers, or how to act unprofessionally in your trade, I'll defer to you. Deal?

I haven’t worked in the family business since the Reagan administration.
But hey, that doesn’t mean I disagree with your assessment of how they do business.

But, since it’s problematic to you to have different thoughts then your own placed here, I’ll do my best not to tell people in the future to change their own water heaters. Deal?

Read this thread in full. I've never had a problem with anyone disagreeing with my thoughts. Get three techs in a room and you have two different opinions and a fist fight. I have a problem with you being a pompous asshole and throwing out insults and this ridiculous name badge color thing that you keep lobbing at me but never backed up.
In fact until you acted like a child I simply disagreed with you and gave an example of why I find the brand I recommend superior. Then you has to be a jerk.
Basically, you're kind of a jerk.

Two AC units...one seems to have shit the bed. On one, the fan isn’t spinning and the guidance is it’s the capacitor, the motor or the entire unit.

Capacitor is pretty rusted and the unit’s 14yrs old. Curious whether I’m missing something or if I should just be grateful I haven’t had to replace it sooner and bite the bullet.

14 years old? It should have some life left in it.
Do you have an electrical meter at all?
You can sometimes visually confirm blown capacitors by looking at them. They swell up like a coke in the freezer sometimes.

I do but I handed it off to the tech to read it. No idea what it said. The capacitor itself didn’t have any bowing or anything like a frozen pop can, but it was very rusted at the top around the connections.

Would that matter?

Doesn’t the capacitor provide energy to turn the compressor on or does it do more? I replaced my capacitor a couple years ago. Fan was turning but no compressor power. Maybe TEIA has something other than a capacitor issue.

Our big picture issue is the fan isn’t working. So the hvac guy thinks we have to address whether power is flowing to the motor, or whether the motor itself is shot. Hence the capacitor check.

After using the voltage meter his read was that the capacitor is shot. This is one of those areas I defer to people who know much more than I do/ever will.

I know you care but it ended up being the blower fan not having good enough run capacitors to keep the rpms at a satisfying speed for the heat exchanger to no over heat. I wasnt lucky, i rented this place because i like to go out on weekends and hit on women. My landlord replaced the entire furnace. Weird because only the fan capacitor was bad, but probably some kind of covid reimbursement

Well I hope so. Still kinda tbd as he didn’t have a capacitor on him and we’ll see tomorrow if that’ll fix the issue. He’s cautioning that even if that gets the motor running, I guarantees that the motor isn’t going to crap out in the short term.

Fingers crossed...

What kind of asshole doesn't carry capacitors on him? Ive got probably close to 100 different ones on my truck right now.

What is a capacitor?

Picture a Boulder on the peak of a hill. The Boulder is the motor. Gravity is the voltage.

You apply gravity (voltage) to the Boulder (the motor). Nothing happens. The Boulder sits on the top of the hill.

Give the Boulder a shove. The shove is a start capacitor. Now gravity (voltage) takes over and the Boulder (motor) runs down the hill.

Some motors need a run capacitor to achieve proper rpms. But that doesn't fit the Boulder analogy so fuck you.

The rationale was that his work van was occupied for an early morning appointment tomorrow and one his guys had it.

He was in his personal car bc he lives relatively close by. Obvious question - does that seem legit or am I a sucker here? What’s the going rate for swapping out a capacitor?

They run slower and slower as the electolytical gel between the anode and cathode degrade. But i dont expect an AMC stock holder like yourself to understand, thats why i am explaining it to you. Btw i have so many capacitors. I will give you one if you understand i will always remember and cut you 1000 ways in small favors. Dont worry its easy for you so its ok.
