It’s a good one.

It is. I saw he had a first round grade, but I lean on you and GD to tell me if someone is good. Unless they played for Georgia. In that case, Hood has probably talked about that guy a few hundred times.

I saw earlier in one of these threads that gd said he can’t play LT and he’s right. He isn’t a LT.

However, I saw some quotes that he’s been practicing at LT in pre-draft workouts because he thinks he can be a LT - which I have no idea if he can but I thought that was interesting.

In any event, he’s a top-notch RT prospect that could just hold down that side for a decade a la Van Horne, who was also a very large human for his time.

I just hope he doesn't turn into a bitch when he gets smacked in the head by some men. Carimi was supposed to be a mean sob too as I recall.

This is a terrible pick if he can't play left tackle
We have the fastest QB in football, we only need to worry about his blindside

He will be a major asset to the run game, which should help Fields immensely.

Possibly two starters is great. Giving up as much as they have to get there is a bitter pill to swallow. I know Pace has been able to find some late draft guys but he needs at minimum a strong player for defensive backfield that can play special packages and maybe a young receiver among other needs. A kick and punt returner would be nice.

If Fields pans out, they didnt over pay at all. Jenkins was projected to be a first rounder, MANY people wanted the Bears to take him at 20...trading 3 picks for 2 and getting a stud tackle doesn't seem like a bad deal either.

You only overpay for left tackles. You don't overpay for right tackles. Right tackles are a dime a dozen.

Despite them trading up, they got good value. He was rated as a first rounder, and they got him in the second. They filled two needs so far with quality players.

So, who was available at 20 and 52 that would be equivalent to Fields and Jenkins?

Dolphin pointed out there was some quality OT going around 52. Trevor is the only equivalent to Fields in this draft.

The run on OTs started before 52, though. Jenkins and Eichenburg both would have been gone if the Bears had stuck to their original slot.

Why was Brady Christensen a 3rd round pick? I read that he got the highest grade ever for a LT by Pro Football Focus.

Pace has definitely addressed 2 huge needs but he has used 6 picks to do it. I like Jenkins but you can not use up all your picks like this and only address a few needs....especially with his track record.

Yeah, true.. but if he does hit on both players the trajectory of this team changes for the next 8-10 years possibly. Landing the right QB makes everything look better so things we may think are a need offensively prior to Fields getting here may look totally different after he starts playing.

That said, it would be nice if Pace didn’t keep refinancing the franchise loans. As is we don’t have much from this years draft and now not much for next years as well.

Like I’ve been telling you, linemen can be grabbed later. QB’s are harder to find. Now grab a Pepsi and chill out bud.

I might agree with everything but LT

If jenkens is as stout as he appears to be you can use a TE to help Leno and then I think he becomes an acceptably average lineman

Hmm.. yeah I don’t know what the hit rate on specific line positions is early Vs later draft wise so I can’t argue for or against the point about LT. I do know that generally speaking hitting on linemen later in the draft is more frequent than hitting on a QB later. But that’s a numbers game so it makes sense.

I'm not sure how safe Leno is right now. Bears still need to make moves to get under the cap and sign their picks. They could restructure a few players, but they have now drafted 2 OT's, including Jenkins, who is expected to be a Day 1 starter. With Pace giving at least a possibility to him playing LT, this could be a sign on Leno's future as well.

If Jenkins can come in and play, specifically LT, Bears have the makings of a top 10 line.

I think that is a safe bet from what I've read, especially with Jenkins being thought of as a right tackle.

I’m less convinced on his violence after watching that. But it did show the one highlight a couple times early, so I was very excited to watch it from 10 different angles over the course of 13 minutes.

I hope he’s good and I’ll trust the people who know better who seem to have a unanimous view on his potential. Some of those pass blocking stances looked like he’ll get crushed on an inside move when he’s no longer lining up against big 12 defenses, but hey, I’m just a beanbag on the message board so what do I know?

Yup, the college highlights are worthless because they may be going up against a 19-20 year old kid, the NFL is full of large angry adults that will match him physically and be far ahead of him technically. Interesting to hear Thayer say that they can tell immediately if a guy has the ability to move his feet enough to play tackle after a few days in camp.

Is there a more overused phrase on Day 2 of the draft than "first round talent"

Don't get too caught up on it. Don't get too caught up on what draft experts thought before the draft. If a person was mocked at 20 by experts and he was drafted at 39, the experts were wrong. However, to admit that they were wrong is bad for their job future. Therefore, that player slipped and tah-dah, its a de facto A+ pick of a guy who "should have gone earlier"

We'll see what Tevin Jenkins is. I do agree that he would have been gone within two picks to Miami but for the Bears acting.

Yikes. Internet lives forever.

Worst take in this thread may be me saying I trust the people who thought highly of Jenkins.

Clearly not.

But unlike you, I don't hate every pick so that I can go back and play gotcha.

Remember you hated the Roquan pick as well.
