He looks really fat in that pick. Not a flattering shot of your franchise savior, Bears’ Twitter. Do better.

Brady and Rodgers don't wear masks outside. Lori probably has a key to the city ready for him with that pic.

He looks like he’s wearing the kind of sweats we wore in the early 80s.

I like Fields' reaction to being drafted by the Bears. He seems to have a bit of an edge to him and appears to be motivated by slipping in the draft.

I’ll be honest and say his reaction seemed more irritated than anything.. let’s hope he’s just got that MJ in him where he ‘takes it personal’. There is a part of me that’s happy to see that he has a chip on his shoulder and he wants to prove something.

But he doesn’t seem legit happy to me if I’m being honest.

Doesn’t matter, I’m confident that once he gets rolling and he sees the fans of this town reacting.. he’s going to embrace this town. Chicago is one of the greatest sports towns on Earth, with a very loyal fan base that travels.

On a side note.. I recently watched his pro day on YT and while it is a controlled environment they had him throw a lot of deep balls (including some requested unscripted ones at the end).. and he’s got a really nice touch on his deep passes. I’ve seen it some on film and in games too but.. it’s nice to see a QB that’s going to be wearing a Bears jersey that can drop deep throws over the receivers shoulder like that consistently.

That's what I liked about his reaction--that he wasn't content to be drafted in the first round. He wanted to go #1 or #2 and seems to be taking it personally that he wasn't. He seems determined to prove that he's great.

Those two things somehow seem incongruent.

I have to say, I'm all in on Fields and I'm not bothering with a safety net.

This is our guy! We finally join the modern NFL

His skill level is incredibly high for an NFL rookie. Few pro quarterbacks can throw with the accuracy, power and touch he consistently displayed in college. And his running ability is obviously off the charts. Hopefully he will be able to improve his pocket awareness in the pros while also quickly adjusting to the speed of the NFL game. If he can do those things, he will become an elite player very early in his career.

Yeah, I think that is even an understatement. He's game-fast.

I remember watching some of his games and he just hit the edge so fast he destroyed defensive pursuit angles all the damn time (not just against Illinois, but often against Illinois...).

For a guy his size, it was crazy impressive because even if they caught up to him, he'd often knock them over and get another 10-15 yards.

Yeah, it's crazy how quickly he is able to accelerate on his runs. Defenders think they've got him...and then all of a sudden he's just gone. That said, one concern I have is that he has an upright, physical running style that will seemingly expose him to injury.

Well, the good news is he won't have to worry about that possibility in practice given the skill level he'd be facing.

I have to say TM being excited about something on the Bears is kinda freaking me out a little.

im all in. i dont want to see 1 snap of the red pocket rocket. put fields in there, keep handcuffs on him for a year, and open up the playbook in year 2. the first year all you are really doing is getting him acclimated to NFL speed and preventing injury. training camp year 2, throw the book at him and see what happens.

Seems Bear fans are slowly realizing they got a great QB prospect. They aren’t the brightest bunch but they get there eventually.

With the Bears' luck, all these superlatives will go to his head and he'll hold out.

I am also in the camp that says play him Day 1. I do not want to see Nagy and Pace hold him out until they're 4-8.

That’s kind of the turd in the punch bowl here. Bears got by far the 2nd best prospect in the entire draft yet there’s a high probability Nagy ruins him.

Are we allowed to speculate that Trevor Lawrence might suck?

I feel like the CDC won’t allow it.

I’ve harbored a thought that he might not be good. I’ve never seen it stated aloud. I’m not sure my NFL Viewer Card can be renewed if I consider that as a possibility and I’d like to continue to be 53% of the NFL audience.

I would not have a grabber if Trevor Lawrence is destroyed trying to make a career in JAX with the support he has there.

Everybody just assumes there are rising tides in all the new personnel arriving there that will cure all ills - I-L-L...K-H-A-N....

I posit that this all could fail. Don’t @ me.
