Good for the Blackhawks. I always liked the fact they took the Cup after they won to Gay Pride Parade.

Why have there been so many different broadcasters this year? Is Pat or Eddie leaving?

Maybe. He has been gone but I feel like Pat has a few times too. Seems mish mashy.

I gotta say even though I can't see him, I've liked sharp tonight. Hope shaw slide into his other spot.

Nice tie with 17 seconds left.

Pat Foley said only 11 guys have scored more goals than Sharp in the history of the original 6 teams. can anybody verify that? Sounds crazy. Sharp aimed for numbers seemingly. WTF?

Considering he’s not even top ten for the Blackhawks, it’s completely wrong. Maybe he meant Kane?

doesn't make sense. the canadiens themselves prob have 6-7 guys who scored more career goals than sharp. leafs, bruins, rangers, red wings...please.

foley must mean between the 1920s and 1967. if sharp played in the 40's-50's, i'm guessing sharp would have been the 12th highest goal scorer ever in 1967? in this example - lafluer, steve schutt and yvan cournoyer wouldn't count from the canadiens. sittler, sundin and vaive from the leafs wouldn't count...etc.

It doesn't make me mad, I'm not sad. This was the first year in a while that I liked watching them. Hope it all continues. Hope they can draft a Kane/Toews again and start all over. :P

Agreed....some of the roster decisions are starting to make sense. It looks like there's a real goalie on the team and there are good prospects to be excited about.

I’m not particularly optimistic. Lazerus actually wrote a good piece today and statistically the Hawks were in the bottom 5 of the league this season in several key areas. The #1 minutes eater was a 37-year dman and their best offensive player was a 32-year old forward. The Hawks have some prospects that look like they might become better-than-average NHL players but the Hawks do not have enough young difference-makers. As good as this try-hard season made some people feel, they would’ve been better off getting a higher draft pick and getting one of the stud dmen that will be available. Maybe several of their prospects way exceed their projections and become stars but that is unlikely.

Totally agree.
They still face the same issues they've had since 2015.....defense. Seabrook is finally done. Keith has to be moved down on the minutes. They don't have defensive muscle.....never replaced Hammer with anything close to comparable. They're almost competitive enough for regular season, but they have nothing defensively that can handle playoff hockey. Lots of work to do, but there are a few bright spots.

i agree with the previous 2 posts. some light at the end of the tunnel - but, not enough light.

i was wrong on kane, i thought he'd play half-assed 5x5. saw enough to give him kudos for the past season. i believe the hawks are filling out lines 2-4 nicely - fairly good depth, but lack skill on the top line and the D needs addressing.

lankinen was/is a pleasant surprise. not sure if he's the man. we'll find out next year.

Kane's season over 82 games would be 98 pts. I said it last offseason- Kane will still be scoring 65 pts a season as a 38-year old.

jeez, going by this, you'd think the hawks finished 3rd in the conference.

https://chicago.suntimes.com/blackhawks/2021/5/15/22426670/blackhawks-player-evaluations-2021-season-patrick-kane-alex-debrincat-connor-murphy

too many exceeded or met expectations. if strome and mitchell exceeded expectations, we'd have won the presidents' trophy.

Got the 11th pick in the draft lottery, jumping the odds by one spot.

Is there a Defenseman we can take, and then trade in a year or 2 because the coach doesn't like him?

Brought to my attention by another poster...

So we will just go with no defense at all I guess.

Eh, I'm fine with it. Frees up cap space and a roster spot to keep a young player from being exposed to the expansion draft.

There's also talk of them freeing up cap space to go after Seth Jones or Dougie Hamilton. Keep in mind that Keith is only owed 2.1 and 1.5 M over the next 2 seasons. It can help a team like Seattle or Ottawa reach the cap floor but spend little in actual salary. The problem for the Hawks is if Keith retires in a year and the Hawks get hit with the cap recapture.

Or this, along with Toews's announcement, could just be the Hawks's attempt to change the conversation from the awful sexual cover-up story to anything else.

Duncan Keith to Edmonton for Caleb Jones and a 3rd round pick.

Good?

Damn, while he covered up for a coach's sexual assault 11 years ago, Stan Bowman has now gone ahead and trade raped the Oilers.

Oiler fans are pissed at this one and I don't blame them.

Son of former NBA player Popeye Jones.

Sounds like a good deal for the Blackhawks. Get a young defenseman with lots of upside

WTF was Edmonton thinking?

Sounds like some folks in Edmonton think Jones is not going to work out in the long term and will not be a top 4 defenseman on their team and he needed a change of scenery.

They have been rumored to be one of the teams trying for his brother. This clears 6 mil in cap space for that.

Shocked the Hawks did not have to retain on Keith. I suspect the Hawks will now give up too much to get Seth Jones.
