Yes. Yes it is. Although I don’t know why I would have expected anything else considering it’s pretty much always terrible.

Word on Twitter is that Pete Davidson "saved" the episode, which I find extremely hard to believe.

The recurring skit in which he plays Chad, a oblivious dope, is usually pretty good and was the funniest skit of tonight's show.

I don't watch the show but the price plummeted, had to have some effect.

That was later after he said DOGE was a hustle.

I’d like to trash Elon, but he was replacement level. Certainly better than I expected, just blah material.

Pretty good return. Owen Wilson was good.

Was Kasey Musgraves pretty much named behind the guitar on that first song?

Owen Wilson was good.

James Austin Johnson's (his name sounds like that of a serial killer) Biden impression reminded me of Darrell Hammond's Clinton with a little of Dana Carvey's Ross Perot thrown in.

There are too many people in the cast. IMO they need to jettison stale, one-note performers like Bryant, McKinnon, and Strong and let some of the 18 other cast members show why they were hired.

Ego Nwodim is very good and one of those who I think is deserving of more screen time, and not just as a secondary or tertiary character.

I'm still not sure why Kyle Mooney is part of the cast.

At first, I thought JAJ WAS Hammond. The “not Joe Buck” character was really good as well.

The cast has been too big for about 20 years. Give me a total of 7-10 performers who bring something to the table.

Agree about Mooney. Also don’t know why Kenan is still there; he has other things going on, and he really doesn’t do more than the same character in every skit.

We did watch most of the skits on YT, and I was somewhat pleasantly shocked at how good some were, and that none were godawful. They were all relatively short and tight; none dragged on and on like many have in the past.

I saw Lorne Michaels accept whatever award SNL got at the Emmys, and I can safely say his lucidity has jumped the shark. Time for him to ride into the sunset.

Weekend Update was entertaining. The Norm tribute was good at the end of it.

I chuckled at a couple of the things...the Grandma funeral sketch was ironically funny because those dopes are part of the cancel culture issue, and they played it well enough that the grandkids were easy to mock.

I saw Beck Bennett decided not to return. He is the only cast member from the last 5 years I liked. He was solid out of the gates and his Putin is one of the few enjoyable things about the show. Unfortunately they neutered him a few years ago and he wasn't in as much stuff and wasn't as racy.

Speaking of Mooney.....that guy was fucking awful on Norm's sports show years ago. How does he keep getting gigs when he is not even remotely funny.

I thought Keenan left a few years ago for his own show but he still keeps showing up.

I did not watch. I saw them pimping it on the news on nbc. I watched some real comedic genius instead on Tacoma FD.

The new guy they’ve got playing Trump is spot on with the voice. Much better than Baldwin.

I agree.

But then I read something about it and I think that's her real story.

So, I'm just going to let it stand as her political statement.

you made me watch that...awful

I'll leave the abortion aspect out of it for the moment: Is Cecily Strong really trying to sell something with the point that, but for it, she wouldn't have a modest career in entertainment? Even if you think SNL is some kind of apex for a comedian, she's rarely cast, is going on a decade of being on the show and has almost no side projects.

I just watched last Saturday's episode. Strange Kid Tales was kind of funny. The "Please Don't Destroy" guys don't do much for me. Sarah Sherman's bit on the news was funnier than I thought it was going to be. Over the course of the last several years Cecily Strong seems to have gone from a solid performer to only playing characters she doesn't agree with politically.

I fast-forwarded through Taylor Swift's excessively long performance and later read that the song was about a guy she dated for 3 months 10 years ago.

The AI comic was a tad Max Headroom-y.

Apparently, neither Joe Biden nor Kamala Harris have done anything worthy of being poked fun at or criticized. Ted Cruz was the subject of the open and there were mentions of Steve Bannon and the Q Anon Shaman during the news, though.

Is that surprising? Weekend Update will take occasional shots at Biden, but that's about it.

That said, this season has been better than the last few. The non-political stuff has been pretty decent for the most part. The lack of Kate McKinnon being around helps, too.

Not surprised, just disappointed. But shame on me (and the moon...) for expecting anything else.

Kate McKinnon not being there has been great for viewers as they are spared her tired, one-note schtick, as well as other members of the cast who get some air time as I assume they were hired for a reason. Even if the latter aren't great, I prefer that to seeing McKinnon.

Whoever did the Kristen Wiig impression a few weeks ago was dead-on. I wasn't sure if it was just an accurate impression, if it was meant to be insulting, or both.

I’m with you Tad. I turned on OANN and was really disappointed at their lack of criticism of Trump. It kinda shocked me.

It’s an excessively woke shitlib cast on NBC. You were expecting Cronkite?

Sarah Squirm did some great stuff while in Chicago. Don't think it will translate well to SNL, but if they let her do her thing there's a lot of potential.

The thing is, SNL used to make fun of both parties. Akroyd did Carter, Hartman then another guy did Clinton, they made fun of how wooden Gore was. When they spoofed the Clarence Thomas hearings, they had Carvey, Hartman and others making fun of all the Senators on the panel—both sides of the aisle.

But they never went near Obama, then went crazy (almost every cold opening for months) on Trump.

I think there were funnier opportunities than a woman poorly playing Ted Cruz using tired “conservatives are mean” jokes. Love him or hate him, Biden spoofs could be pretty funny.

When Hillary lost, it was over.

After the solemn opening song, there was no going back.
