My grandparents used to own hundreds of acres up there in the 60s-80s so that was our summer vacation every year until college. I love it there as well. Could do some fishing, either charter on Lake Michigan or on some of the inland lakes. Can do some biking or hiking, there are some pretty good trails in Peninsula State Park.

We went to Boston 2 years ago. They really liked that. My husband likes active trips. I like event & food trips. I should ask them what they like more. What did you guys like or what was a good trip/good place to go? I was thinking Savannah or one of the Carolinas next. I'd like to do DC for my daughter but I don't know what's open. NYC or Seattle when it's not a disaster which seems like it will be a few years.

Ok so I'm weird when it comes to vacations. I like being in the woods or whatever. My wife likes the beach. But I'm turning her into a camping girl.
When I was a teeny tiny darko I loved camping too. We went to turkey run or door county and I'd ride my bike around with my mate James. He was the son of my parents best friend, only a couple days younger than me.
As a teen when we went camping I'd be fishing or hunting. I feeling kids today wouldn't be into it.
We just did a week camping in Milton. Basically sitting by the fire drinking until 1am, getting up at 10, struggle strugglebussing through breakfast and playing scrabble until the sun went down enough to start a fire and start over.

Sometimes they like getting away from the bustle.

I hate camping never really done it and scrabble and boggle. My favorite games are memory and enchanted forest. I also like puzzles. jigsaw or brain teaser type stuff.

So in September we ditched the tent and bought a 22 foot travel trailer. Bathroom, shower, toilet, bunks beds and a queen bed. It's not really camping but it's fun. It's kinda camping. We burned stuff.

I’m still the only one who has chosen The Bridge Phase?

Watch the damn ABC7 6pm news! It has to be online! I’m not crazy!

With regard to this.

Ken, Squirrel and Spaulding all seem to be experiencing a sort of mid-life crisis. You see where you’re at and where you’ll likely end up career-wise, relationship wise, and kid wise. What choices did you make to get here, and what could you have done differently? What can you do to change the likely path you’re on?

For me, I thought I’d be more successful. I do fine, but I thought I’d be an executive and have vette, country club membership, and less financial stress in general. Parents influenced some choices that didn’t help me career wise, but that was long ago and I should have been able to course correct, so I can only blame myself.

I think this is a Talking Heads song—“where is my beautiful house...how did I get here?”

My mid-life crisis occurred when I joined this board in 2006.

I’ve got a whole, entire-life crisis going on now.

Or is it an entire crisis of life, I don’t even remember my own bad, reference joke.

I don’t think I mid life crisis has to occur at mid-life. Sorry to hear you’re seeing a lot of doctors lately, but that’s obviously the trigger for your introspection.

I'm at 3/4 life crisis maybe more. Most of my stress is self induced. I got nothing to complain about really.

Yeah, me neither, nor probably anyone that posts on this board. We’re luckier than 99% of the people in the world just to be born in the USA. We have food, clean water, Pultes, and debate sports for entertainment. All things considered, I’m grateful.

But that won’t keep me from complaining and wanting more :D

Still 1 vote?!?!?

MFers! Did you guys watch the ABC7 10pm news. I have it saved if you need it but I’m sure it is online. Please educate yourself. It is nearly as annoying as my continued attempts to draw attention to it.

Cheryl Scott is mocking me with her hand movements by the way. I’m certain she’s upped her theatrical hand game just to spite me.

This reads like a post that a court would use as evidence.

Yeah. I’m not sure my dad likes this one either. Was riding a bike with my brother along a road to go to a little general store to get a pop. Brakes didn’t work on my bike and we were kind of racing. My front tire hit his back because he had to slow down for some reason and the collision launched me over the handle bars into the semi busy road we were on. A cars tire stoped about 12 inches from my head. My dad was driving the car. Can’t say I’ve ever seen a more interesting combination of rage and relief jn my life. With having kids now I think I understand.

Savannah was really cool. Was there this past October. Would love to go back non-Covid. Also stayed at Daufuskie Island. Good place to unplug. Would have preferred Hilton Head. Asheville, NC would be a place to check out, too.

I’ve had about 3 identifiable midlife crises. Haven’t gotten the convertible sports car and toupee yet but you never know. I’ve had a remarkably lucky and blessed life. I’ve made a few mistakes, misssedna few opportunities but in general my lot in life is pretty good and would likely not be improved in any tangible way if I had availed myself to other opportunities. As I tell my wife is probably be regretting that I didn’t do things the way we’ve done them if I had gone down a different path.

My kids will be grown in the next 10 years. I imagine as each hits the milestones I will be more introspective and reflective on my life and what I’m doing and what I’m going to be doing next. 16 year old squirrel would be very confused by 46 year old squirrel.

A sentence you could only read here...in this weird corner of the internet.
