Bear fans, this isn't what you want to read, but this could be a bad omen as we look ahead to "Football Night in America", and the nationally televised opener in Indianapolis Sunday night on NBC. The Chicago Tribune reports that defensive tackle Tommie Harris will be listed as questionable with a knee injury for the regular season opener. What makes this hard to swallow is that this is the knee that was surgically repaired in the offseason and it still may not be 100% as the season opens. Tommie was held out of the preseason finale in Cleveland, but this knee injury could be a dagger to a Bears' season that is less than optimistic to begin with.

Yeah, pretty much. And I think you have to seriously consider the long term with Harris. This guy has been injured more often than not (though, to his credit, he has played through it frequently).

Of all the defensive players, I wonder who's the one you don't want to lose more...Tommie Harris or Mike Brown...I still remember #30 in tears after his 2007 season was cut short following the gut-wrenching loss in San Diego.

Easy, Tommy Harris, because losing Mike Brown is a given.

Or this could just be a Lovie charade, albeit a feeble one.

Doesn't matter. The way POS Smith mismanages the clock, most of our defense will be worn down by the fourth week anyways.

Sorry to say it all, but this is a main reason that I think the bears defense has been overrated for the past 5 years. They've excelled against poor competition and when healthy, but great defenses can lose a player and perform well against strong competition. I've been intending to open a thread on this discussion for some time now. I think TH is overrated, and with the exception of the 2006 loss to the Pats, where they held NE to 17 points, I'm unable to see a game since 2005 where you can say they held a high powered offense to less than 20 points.

Jeeez! It feels like we're in the middle of the season already. When do pitchers and catchers....oh wait we're still in the '08 baseball seaon.

It looks like Tommie is good to go in the "Sunday Night Football" season premiere in Indianapolis, but it'll be interesting to how he can adjust to the FieldTurf they've got at the new Lucas Oil Stadium where they'll kick it off.

Is he taking a page from the Bill Belichick playbook?
