No shit Chet. No shit.
I also used to deer hunt out there. Don't anymore, I go south now.
When Duck or Deer hunting I like to hit "the Outer Limits" althogh I hear it's got a new name now.
Also Bucks Barn was a nice place to pick up, uh, drinks.

Well, the Brewers seem to be insisting that the Cubs take the Central. Losing 6-0 to the Mets in the 4th.

Back in May he beat the Cubs, going 5 1/3 and giving up just 2 runs. At least this time he did something good for his old club. It was a surprise to be sure. The Brewers have had great success this year against Lefties.

Migic numbers-14 for the playoffs and 18 for the division now- Beautiful-as long as Zambrano comes back at full stregth after the cortizone shot and Harden is okay after a bit of extra rest. Otherwise, a divisional championship and playoff berth, mean a lot less. Gotta have those two at full strength. Injuries are the only thing that can prevent the end of the wait in 2008.

For the Cubs to still have this lead is pure luck. If the Brewers had been even .500 over the last 10 games, they would be 1 game up on the Cubs. And on the flip side, had the Cubs played .500 over thier last 10, they would be 9 games up on Milwaukee with champagne on ice.

Pure luck at this point.

Yeah gotta have some luck once in awhile.

You can also say that Cubs played so well for the first 3/4 of the season that they put themselves in the position to be helped out with some luck here and there.

It is what it is. Is luck the same thing as momentum?

Remember when the Brewers were tied with the Cubs for first place? Cubs swept them 4 in a row at their park. They have room for "error" and unfortunately, they are REALLY taking advantage of that. Who knows what happens if the Brewers were winning...maybe the Cubs would be playing with more of an edge and win more games. Keyword = IF....and we can talk IF all day, but it is all hypothetical.

What IF the Twins did not have to go on a 14 game roud trip? What IF the Sox did not have these injuries?

It is what it is.

To a point I agree with you frank, but ever team needs and gets luck, look at the white sox and twins, same thing, they win, sox win, they lose, sox lose..well except for last night. I just want them to get to the playoffs, get hot and win it all, if they dont, then its a failed season.

If the Cubs don't win it all, its not a failure.

If they don't at least make the World Series, then it is. They are cold right now, but they have been far and away the best team in the National League since probably about the end of April.

"Turn it up to 11"

8 for wild card.

and the countdown continues. 7 for both division & wild card.

The Cubs were not even playing this weekend and shaving games off the MN thanks to the Brewers collapse. Brewers currently look like a team that will miss the playoff's all together.

I'd love to see the Cubs clinch at home.

For the most part, that is true. But they did play a game last night up in Milwaukee, in case you did not hear. It was actually a pretty good one too, with a home run by Soriano, 2 out hits by Lee, Ramirez and Soto, all with 2 outs. Oh, and a No-Hitter by Zambrano as well. So they did play at least 1 game this weekend and its gonna be one a lot of people (including myself) will long remember.

Yes, the Brewers have faltered of late. Their bullpen is gassed and is blowing leads in games on a regular basis. If they had a decent bullpen, they would be a very dangerous team. The toughest thing for them, is that even if they were to upgrade the bullpen for next year, they are still unlikely to become a premier team, as they will very likely lose Sabbathia and possibly Sheets as well, to free agency. I don't care where the Cub's clinch the division, I just want it to happen as soon as possible and then see them clinch home field until the World Series.

The way Zambrano has pitched after having time off, you would like to see the Cubs clinch early than maybe have Z miss a start, along with Harden. He has been dominant in coming back after a layoff, the Cardinals game after the DL stint and yesterday.

With the Cubs leading 6-0 after 6 innings, it looks like they could clinch with a sweep of the Cubs/Brewers series that starts on Tuesday!!!

7 - 1 = 6

Six is the current magic number. Sweep the Brewers...and it's ZERO!!!

I am going to be at the games on Friday & Saturday...hoping to see an on-field celebration like I did in 2003. Pretty fun. First of several celebrations I hope!
